    Default Ecotec Stumble off idle.

    Any help appreciated again.

    VS Berlina Ecotec unmodified.

Car starts no problems but sometimes doesnt idle very well. Missing and stumbling. Then it might settle down and idle Ok.

If you stab the throttle in neutral, It will stumble or hessitate for a brief moment and the rev cleanly once its overcome this.

When driving, if you're stopped at the lights, get off the brakes and straight onto the throttle (lightly), it will miss and stumble for a couple seconds but then come clean and once a bit of speed is up (couple kmh) it will rev and accelerate without an issue.

If you get off the brakes and let the car roll a bit in drive and then get on the throttle it is not as bad and sometimes doesn't stumble at all.

The alternator light is comming on a bit but it was comming on before this stumble occured. noticed one of the wires out of the alternator seems a bit corroded after reading that the VSs had this wire problem on this forum. (thanks)

Could the alternator/wire issue cause the stumble problem when taking off?
    If not,
Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

    thanks

it might be wiring but im not sure im not a mechanic. but mine does the same thing when the aircon is on i put it down to the the extra strain on the engine with the a/c compressor.

i figured that the default idle level is a little too low causing the occasional studder. definitly get that alternator cable checked!
other than that, check your air filter to make sure it isnt gunked up and maybe run though a bottle of injecter cleaner.

sometimes i just start my car, count to 3 then rev and hold it at 1,200 rpm, its not straining it but it warms the engine up that bit quicker
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.

take the engine cover off and make sure that all the vacuum lines etc are attached, common problem on the VS is for the purge line under the throttle body to come off. lots on this problem in other threads, if that doesn't work take the throttle body off and give it a good clean as oil will build up in there from the purge lines over time, take the IAC of the throttle body and clean the passages out also. do the basics too, check your plugs and leads and fuel filter etc
