Default I give in!!

Well me and a couple of the boys were bored out of our minds today, so I decided to do something I knew would be dangerous to my wallet. I went and test drove a VS Exec, 1997 in dark green. (can't remember the name of the colour but meh)

Im hooked. Im gonna get one, soon as I can afford it.

coming soon to a JC thread near you... jetspin_vs!!!

Some believe that the VS is the best commodore holden ever produced, especially if u have one of the supercharged Vs's, then you've got one of the hardest commodores in my books. I've driven a VY (auto unfortunately) a VT and my vs, and amazingly nothing could beat the the feeling my vs gives. To me, the VS is still my favourite commodore.

I have to admit though, if l was given the chance, l would sell my car anyday for a VY, they just look so good .

I think the VS was the turning point for the commy's that are out now and coming out now...or it would really be the VR becuase the dash and design was the same for the VR as well remember.....but i know that I would drop everything for a WK Stato ...lol went cruising in it last night and let me say its goood fun ...though that stupid WRX beat me off the line but hey if i didnt run out of road it would have been all me

Yep, love the VS. I've driven a VR and a VX as well, the VR felt very similar to the VS and the VX was just so...comfortable. If felt like riding on a cloud. Maybe it's just because the VS is bumpier and isn't as refined as the new cars today that gives it it's lovable character.

i'm sure they are still using the same suspenion setup from the vr to vy

obviously all the vt's and on came with IRS. so a vr calais should feel the same as they had irs to a vy commodore.

but i could be wrong. lol.

Yeh i think you are right and wrong Tails - lol

Front and rear suspension is the same type (mcpherson strut and IRS) but the suspension setup, refinement and tuning progresses immensely from model to model.
I have a VP Calais with IRS and compared with the VX Execs IRS I have driven, its like comparing a BMWs suspension with a Hyandai Excels.. okay so NOT that much different but definately noticable.

Remember shockers and springs are better not to mention newer, more expensive units, and also tire size/profile as well as body shape and aerodynamics make a big difference.

Also other little things like seats, sound deadening and cabinet/body build quality will make a lot of difference also to the feel.

Drivers also expect that every new model handles and drives better, goes faster, uses less fuel, looks better and gets them more chicks than the model it replaces!

Thats my 0.02cents........

PS, back on topic - VS is a very nice car - go and see if you can find yourself a Berlina thow, they have a lot of factory options which keeps driving a bit more enjoyable.

Auto, so im not really driving it, more steering and applying an input to the throttle angle sensor

The suspension on the VR makes the car feel like its a metre off the ground...
