Hey everybody, pros and cons of installing a sunroof. I want to add one to my car but then I look at it and think it won’t look good but then yet again it might. I heard that they just hack the shit out of your roof with an angle grinder to put the sunroof in. anyone got any comments or bad experiences with installing sunroofs or having sunroofs?
Super Coach
yes please enlighten me also... definately a mod i would like to carry out.
also does anyone have approx prices in perth for a sunroof installation??
its expensive :P probably looking at 1500-2k for a good one, not a crappy holden one. would be nice though :P
ive often thought about wether they can put them in utes![]()
Anyone done it?
theres a mob south of the river that does it and start from $799 for a sliding one.Originally Posted by VR_Project

i will look at the perth street cars mag tonight and get name and number for them
Ive got a sunroof in mine and I dont see any cons it looks good and I cant imagine a sunroof on a VS making it look shit. Im also sure they will look after your roof when installing it. As for installing them yourself, I wouldnt recommend it unless you absolutely know what you are doing.
1500-2000 I reckon is damn cheap installed for a 'good one'. Good meaning full electric etc. I also dont think you can buy Holden branded sun roofs. They can be installed on utes as well
cheers Deano, any help would be great![]()
looking for a good quality full electric one, one that tilts up and slides back like the holden ones.
there is two cons:
1. if you go to bad place to get it done they might not cut the hole in the roof right when they install it and it will leak whenever it rains providing you with a wet arse when u want to go to work in the morning.
2. you've just paid 1500-2000 bucks for a hole in the roof that lets in all the water.
but if you go to a good place you should b ok.
We got rep back, yaaay!
I am yet to see the benefit of a sunroof, my mum and her B/F both have them and my mates EF and the only time the r useful is to squirt people out of with a water pistol or other illegal activities. Other then that they are useless, the amount of air they let in and out isn't that great.
ok VR_Project here are the places in perth for sunroofs
Linear Concept - in wangara
www.linearconcept.com.au
they are now Hollandia sunroof state authorised seller & sell webasto sunroofs too
the hollandia sunroofs are the same ones as HSV factory & holden i think.
my hsv has a hollandia one in it
not sure on prices you will have to ring 9309 9111
the other place is Prestige Sunroofs WA in Booragoon
they have sliding sunroofs from $795 and they dont have website. they just point to webasto sunroofs website australia.
number to call is 9317 1944
cant comment on the webasto sunroofs but mine is a hollandia like i said in my hsv and i think its awesome. if its good enough for hsv to use from factory its good enough for me
hope this helps![]()
yea personally i wouldn't get one but everyones decision, my dad didn't like em that much when he owned a cortina for a while but he said the most use he got is when he locked his keys in the car and left it open so he got em out by climbing through lol
Check Out My Ride Here: 91 VN Calais[/CENTER]
most of the new sunroofs automatically close after you take the key out of accessories so thatOriginally Posted by wes_v8
a) no one can get into your car if you leave it open
b) if it rains and you leave it open....wet bum
thanks everyone for you pm's keep them coming as im sure there are more people out there with opinoins on sunroofs![]()
Super Coach
Yeah, I had one on my previous VR Calais and loved it, now looking to put one in my VS Manta, I love them, cruising on a warm summers night with it open, nothing better
hmm old thread but did anyone have any luck.. i only want one cause they look good when opened while cruising. my mate got one for 2g, the bloke who installed it didnt get it square, its on a slight angle looks kinda bodgy, but doesnt leak which is a bonus
i want one put in my VT, i reakon with the VZ monaro body kit, bigger rims, lower it, de-badge it, remove the spoiler and get a sun roof put in, i reakon that will put it over the top =)
yesm all i need is a senator body kit its just hard chasing a complete kit down unless you go thru a dealership and my local dealership isnt interested in selling me one i wanna find someone who cant tint my ride and do the roof
well im in quirindi ( middle of the sticks lol near tamworth ) and our local smash repairs had a monaro body kit there off a genuine monaro, so i asked him to paint it and see how we went, the side skirts don't watch up so we got a set of VX SS side skirts .... must admit looks tricky
what im tryin to say here is ... no matter where u are, theres always gonna be some one interested in taking your money for a sweet looking job
as for sun roof .. i'd go to a pro place in sydney that do that sorta stuff daily
do sun roofs make the car hotter, temp wise in the summer?
heya there guys i was just wondering if anyone knows any good sunroof mobs in qld, ive been looking around but alot of the people seem pretty dodgy when i go and speak to them in person, i was just wondering if anyone has dealt with any in qld?
