can't really see any difference, series II badge under side indicators. And probably the interior might have a different colour.

in the series II - new 16 inch wheels, i'm sure the tyres where also a bit wider, and the two-tone paintjob is a bit different - instead of the bottom half of the car being silver, it's only a small bit at the bottom, all around the car that is silver.

the following was taken from http://www.users.on.net/~%20nweber/c.../vr/index.html

"Changes with the VR Series II were: Speed Alert, Warning chime for handbrake on, Fuel low warning light and chimes, Different cloth trim... Series II badges under the front side indicators, V8 has a different starter motor, new exhaust manifold in an attempt to quieten the V6."

hey i gotta vsII calais and iv seen the VR Calais as well. Heres wot i found
! The VR had the old 3.8 litre, the VS had Ecotec
! the VR had square (standard) side repeaters, the VS had oval shape
! VS2 was the only one (i think) to come out with SS bezels and foglights
! VS2 came with 16inch International style rims
! yes the two tone was made more minimal from vr to vs
! The taillight indicators for the vr were orange, the vs was clear

I think the way to tell the difference between the VR Series 2 and series 1 is they usually have a bit of chrome around the windscreen and the series 1 doesn't.

Other than that I think they are the same car basically.

I have a series 1 VR Calais and it has Speed Alert, Handbrake warning, low fuel warning with leather and velour trim. I thing with the VR Series II, those features were probably made available on all models not just the Calais.

The taillight indicators are clear on the VR, as is the VR S, VR SS, VR Berlina and VR Acclaim.
