Default Trying to put VX SS interior in VS...pls help!!

    Guys,

Has anyone put in a VX interior or similar into a VS Commodore..... I have the complete interior of a VX SS (front and rear seats) and wanna chuck it into the VS Exec 5ltr.

Where do I start? Do I need to change the rails for the VX front seats to fit the existing floorplan?

What about the back seats- what needs to be done there? I figured people on this forum would have done this before, hence, the request for advice and assistance! If I can't do it myself and its gonna cost a bit, then I will sell the VX SS interior in the local 'trader'.

    Cheers guys.....http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...lies/smile.gif

    ssmate,

Your info appreciated.... if I can't get fit 'em in, you'll be the first to know.. lol!

Do u know where I can get those rails that you are talkin' about? Can you remember what your mate paid for 'em?

Just need to figure out now how the back seats fit in - I'm presuming that the brackets on the chassis need to be realigned or changed in some way?

Other forum members thoughts would be appreciated!

Apparently, the back seats need a little bar welded underneath and then the tab that holds them down slightly bent to fit. It is possible, a little fiddly but not difficult. As for the front, just unbolt the rails from your exisiting seats.

    Hi Manass,

Thanks for the info. U seem to be a little 'clued up' on the issue - so from what you're saying, I can unbolt the seat rails from my exisiting VS seats and put them on the VX SS seats, is that correct?

"Apparently, the back seats need a little bar welded underneath and then the tab that holds them down slightly bent to fit."

When u refer to the bar that needs to be welded - I'm assuming that this mod is for the back rest part of the back seat (upper part) yeah? And, the tab mod is for the 'bum' part of the back seat (bottom part). If I'm right or wrong, can u pls let me know.

Your help appreciated man! Has anyone else tackled this before?

i thought VX seats featured electric adjustment ( front and rear height at least ) but i suppose the VS rails will cover that?

Freakme, the back part is pretty much straight up fit. All the work needs to be done to the base part.

    Ghost79,

Once I figure out how the back seats fit in.... I will hopefully get some pics up for every1 2 see.

Now to work out and follow what manass has stated.... to get that bar welded and muck around with fitment. An in-depth look at it over the weekend no doubt on the cards!

    Cheers..

I was mucking around on the w/end trying to get the VX SS front seats to go in my VS.... I took the metal base frames off both the VX and VS seats. Should I have done that? I tried to retro-fit the VS metal base frame on the VX seats - a definite no go! They clearly don't fit!

This in turn led me to the conclusion that I should've just taken off the seat rails and not the entire metal frames? The VX seat rails look a little difficult to take off? How would I take them off? The nuts have round heads? Am I on the right path here?

    Any posters thoughts appreciated.

Let us know how u go..... it is not an easy job! My main issue is fitting the VS front rail set-up to the VX front seats.... it requires a bit of work.

I don't want to drill holes in the floorplan to accomodate new VX rails, so retro fitting the VS rails to the VX seats is really my only option. A bit more thought is required on my behalf.

freakme how much differance is there between the prexisting holes from vs seats and the vx seats, i'm going to have a look this weekend, taking the passagers seat out of mums vx acclaim an see how it fits in my vs ute. Can you just drill holes in the rails on the vx seats to suite the VS body holes.

    Thanks freakme

Boys, one and all!!!!!! I HAVE DONE IT!!!! Before an innocent hairs is harmed by tearing your own hair out please read on......

I got a pair of VT SS front seats into my VS ute. Relatively easy but with a little stuffing around. If any are interested I'll go into more detail soon when spare time is available.

To cover a few things I've read though - VT to VS seat rails very very very different and do not line up.
I had to do away with the height adjustment but that was a minor price to pay.
And the bases of each of the two seats do not match up - minor mods needed......

So again, I can post in detail if wanted.......
