Hi Guys,![]()
My VR has developed a knocking and has just in the past 2 weeks gotten very bad and the mechanics can't find it but can get the car to make the noise on the road.
If you drive the car down a straight road fast or slow and make the car swerve left to right hard it makes a knock noise every single time. In normal driving she will knock over big bumps like railway lines and small pot holes etc and also when you turn sometimes or even taking off. The noise seems to originate from the centre to the rear of the car.
We seem to think it's suspension realted but can't find anything worn to warrant replacing there.
What's your ideas ????

sounds like it's the sway bar link pin bushes and/or link pins. they do exactly what you described when they are stuffed or bent...is your car lowered?
I broke my link pin a few weeks ago (fix now) and when i turned or went over bumps it would knock, does not sound very nice...
The sound comes from the front though, and almost under you but didnt hear it from behind me.
The VR isn't lowered. The bushes do need replacing on the sway bar as they are showing cracks.sounds like it's the sway bar link pin bushes and/or link pins. they do exactly what you described when they are stuffed or bent...is your car lowered?
Sounds the same here never hear it from behind mainly from centre to front but a few times it did roughly sound like it was coming from behind depending where you were sitting in the car.I broke my link pin a few weeks ago (fix now) and when i turned or went over bumps it would knock, does not sound very nice...

dead set my vr statesman does the exact same thing, i notice it most when turning sharply at bout 30 or more k's, first time i heard it i tried to make it do it again, so doing about 60k's and swerving back and forth sharply it does it, it definately sounds like it is coming from the front and i can feel the vibration from it through the footrest and pedals. i rear ended a mate of mine and thats when it started doing it, then only damage was front bar, bonnet and a headlight...something may have broken or bent, i really wanna get it fixed before i possibly no longer have steering!
