    Question Workshop Manual

    G'Day Ppl,
I'm chasing a Workshop Manual for VS v6
Are there any preferences to those available?
    Where from?

Wanting to make the Statey Bullet proof. I'm 'Out West' in the Heat
    Upgrade Alternator wiring and Terminations
Separate Oil cooler for Auto Oil
Check Cooling System; Radiator, Hoses, W/Pump
even to pull the heads and have a Squiz

For the Heads, how many Hours and also $$$$

Any [useful] comments appreciated, also, what else to consider doing/upgrading?

For your Workshop Manual try ebay. I got mine there, is in really good nick & only cost $32 with delivery. Normally about $45 in a shop.

You can get aftermarket auto coolers for the VR, so I presume you can for the VS. From what I've been told by my mechanic the aftermarket ones are an easier & better fit than the genuine Holden ones. Sorry I don't know how much as I haven't enquired yet.

I'd be more inclined to have the radiator flushed out professionally rather than just being eyeballed, & replace the hoses if yours are not exactly 100%.

Also check the fan belt for cracking at the edges. If there is any doubt no matter how small, get a new one. You don't want it breaking half way to Toowoomba now do you.

hmmm... I'm a desert rat too, so I can see why you want to do this.

personal opinion go the gregories, or read on the various commodore forums. i got mine from supershit auto for $40
what do you want to achieve with upgraded alternator wiring, if there's no extra current (ie stereo), then you're just wasting money.
separate auto cooler is a simple bolt on, but will take time as you need to drop the froint bar.
cooling system? I won't touch mine, so I can't give advice - take it to a rad shop.
pulling the heads? why? just to look? fair enough, just be careful not to drop dirt into any holes. if you're getting them ported, prices are subjective to workshop

useful comments, not really my forte, but I will say this. learn as much as you can, because fixing engines is often an easy thing to do, and not paying a mechanic to do things will quickly save you lots of $$$
