i hav recently bought a VR SS 5ltr but the motor cut out on the way home from picking it up, i calld RAA out n they said the Oxygen sensor might hav got to hot n just needed to cool down, and sure enough it started again once it had coold down a bit, but my question is, is this a common thing or should i get the sensor replaced? ne help would b great.

Better to get it replaced, just to make sure it won't happen again. I'd do that If I were you. You should also give you car a full service regardless what the previous owner said to you.
I never trust previous owners on what say on used cars cos they do it to win you over (Not all of them do and its worse on used car dealers). I just focus on the condition and the well being of the car rather than listening to their Bullsh*t. Anyway goodluck with it.

buy a new one, about 70 bucks to 80, and change it by yourself.

Sounds like a typical crank angle sensor fault.... Pour some water on it, let it cool down and away she goes again....

i'd go with the CAS as well, if the o2 sensor goes faulty it doesn't normally kill the engine. a fualty CAS will. very common problem for it to fail when it gets hot. as said above, carry some water and next time it dies poor the water over the CAS and see if it starts then

The V8 doesn't have a CAS - as the good doctor says it is probably the ignition module. Oxygen sensors will not cause a car to stop.
