vr.start problem

when i start the car cold its fine,when car is warm,very hard to start,car runs fine when started,,,asked mechanic if was injectors,he said prob not,he asked if car used heaps of fuel,yes,he asked if car blowing black smoke,yes.he said more than likely its a valve,always have trouble in vr,does anyone no the name of valve he talking about?he didnt tell me,and whatscosts involved.......thanks...ps....still thought injectors thou...

sounds like it could be a sticky inlet / exhaust valve causing more fule to be pumped in, or it could be the electric choke staying on that would explain the excess fuel used and it running rich

Sounds like a dud oxygen sensor or a dud coolant temp sensor thinking the engine is still cold. Could also be a stuck PCV valve or the IAC valve. Shouldn't be the inlet/exhaust valves. Do a fault codes test and see what comes up.

thanks,,,,when i do start car goes to 2500 revs,then goes down to normal after bout 10 seconds,also when driving,then stop at lights etc,then take off,there is a bit of delay in accereration???or wen i rev the car,revs go down then up as i accererat......got to take car on wensday,,,just hope he finds the prob,without beating around the bush..........thanks again:bow:

I think thats the IAC valve that affects the revs like that, they tend to get clogged with blowby oil fumes, but don't quote me on that. Shouldn't be too expensive.
