On my previous car, I wanted to have an alarm installed and was told because of the "smartlock" immobilizer, they'd either have to rewire the whole car, or upgrade the current remote and add a siren to the system already in place.
With a VS Berlina (with remote central locking, and immobilizer) would I be in the same situation, or could I buy a normal alarm system (perhaps with remote engine start!!!!) that could be rigged up to the system that already exists, but with the new remote //sensors etc ?
Has anyone done it ? What kind of alarm do you use ?

ey, what i have is an "alarm upgrade" kit fitted that wires into your factory system and imobilizer with shock sensors and door stuff like that which works with the factory remote, so it lets u have one remote to arm the alarm and lock the doors. Places like Jb-Hifi and car stereo places have them with along with fitting. Theres sum pretty kewl ones around n ive seen a vid on here with remote start on a vn. Just depends on what you want to spend.
Hope that helped
