Go around all the sensor plugs and make sure they are secure. Could be that the O2 sensors are starting to go. Check to see if an error code was logged.

As TheForgotten says, check error codes. No point having stabs in the dark about what it could be - could be hundreds of things. There is a how-to that describes the process.

at least the missus correctly identified it as an engine light....

every time mine goes on she [the missus] says the "oil light came on" which almost always gives me heart attack.

Oxy sensor, champ. They commonly fail and give an engine warning light here and there.
If its not working, you're not hitting it hard enough.

Jackson, i notice you're a newB so I'll just point out that this thread is nearly 2 years old .. not sure where you dug it from but its probably been fixed by now.
Maybe CXCXCXCXCV can come back and tell us what it was ?

Mine did the same thing. Buy 3 cans (about $10ea) of throttle cleaner and spray out your throttle etc. Clean up your egr valve and injectors and if you can get to the O2 sensors, carefully take them out and clean them. You will be suprised how much built-up carbon pours out which is soaking up your oxygen and throwing off your sensors. You car will run smoother and use less fuel.

wouldnt suprise me if CXCX had faulty oxy sensors given his current fuel usage problems, however Im sure he has since replaced them and earthed them correctly.

I wonder if CX will check in to let us know what went so wrong so long ago?

Just thought id add my two cents but thread digging isn't always bad, sometimes a thread will cover some very usefull information or some of the info will be incomplete and someone will fill in the gaps or add a little extra its refreshing in a way, dont some of you long time members get sick of answering the same question from scratch? isnt it easier when someone uses information already available to discuss there new problem?

Ive had this problem for ages. Any updates as to whether or not it was the o2 sensor?

Just do a code check and find out. In the How To section.

Code 76 points directly at the O2 sensor. Cut the purple wire on the RH sensor, (on the loom side of the plug) and reset the PCM, take it for a drive and check the codes again. Cutting the wire won't really hurt anything. It was a Holden fix back in the VS days anyway.

If I cut the wire on the loom side, and get a new sensor, it will still be cut, shouldnt I cut it on the sensor side?

If its not going to make matter worse, I will give it a chop.

Which ever side you cut it, it doesn't matter, but the problem is in the circuit, not the sensor. If you get a new sensor and the loom side isn't cut, the problem will still be there.

Default Personalised Comodore number plates Victoria

Hi all. Just wondering if you guys can give me an estimate of what I should ask for these plates, as a guy down the street keeps pestering me for them.
