Question VR Berlina rear power window that won't go up or down

I have a 94 VR Berlina and the passenger rear window won't go up or down. I've pulled the door trim off and found a steel wire cable with what appeared to be a snapped crimped piece of steel, lying at the bottom of the door cavity.

There was also a black sleeve like/tubing coming out of the motor and it had a threaded part attatched to the motor that had broke at the threaded section.

Do I have to buy a new cable/motor assembly or is there a easy fix?

I appreciate any advice, thanks very much

Have you checked for power at the motor when the switch is pressed using a mutlimeter/test light?

with the door trim off, plug the switch back in, look in at the motor assembly and press the down and up buttons and have a look at what the cable does. it still should move..

what sounds like has happened is the bit u found in the bottom of the door is the piece that pulls the window up and down. ur best bet is probably to source urself another window reg, and keep your broken one for spare parts.
