Hey all,
Ok in brief my vrs v6 engine is on the way outand i have to drop a new one in, BUT i thought hey wilst its out and considering im already spending the $$$ why not add sum more power.
Just need advice should I:
a)Get a good condition v6 and stroke it
B)Get a v8 and drop that in?
or
C) leave the **** alone and drop a stock engine in?
thnx for your opnions![]()

i'd say stroke the new one. dropping an 8 in would mean, changing engine, trans, instrument cluster, front suspension, K-frame, diff etc.
there's no need to buy another engine if you decide to stroke it and the condition of it wouldnt matter at all - it could have been used as a door jam, it doest matter. this is because in order to install a stroker crank the engine will require a full rebuild anyway.

stroke a 8![]()
We got rep back, yaaay!
stroke the 6 nothing better then watching v8 drivers cry when you smoke them
Have to agree with shumway...
STROKE IT!!! hehehe
* Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod
* 18x8 inch Equus Kalibur Wheels with Maxxis MAV-1 235/40R18
* Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust
if money is an issue stroke the v6..
Stroke the V6, unless you put a GENIII V8, different story.
Go the V8. Take it from me, don't waste time and money on a 6 if you want power.
my opinion
forget the v8 unless your going to trade it in for a car that already has a v8
stroke the six and get it built for boost then run the twin turbo setup your name says your dreaming about
or drop in a supercharged engine
or drop in a stock six and trade it in on a LS1![]()
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?

I'm not dreaming, thats why I said don't waste time on a 6. I've got a VH SL/E stroker here as well, and I enjoy driving that way more.
Plus, nothing quite sounds like an 8 :P
whats up with all these people wanting to stroke their 6? :P
I wanted to be unique now thats out the window...

Hey thnx for tha replies,
Spaced, i love to trade her in for a nice ls1 or Gen 3 but id only get 3 tho max~ and ive shyed from going twin turbos for a daily driver due to reliability and drivability but F*K it would be fun! I might go single turbo tho (checks wallet)
Also thnx for the advice (Spaced, 4bdnVR etc) bout avoiding a bent 8 conversion~ love an 8 for the power/ exhaust note but prob best factory.
As for trade in/Sell BLOODY VRs ARENT WORTH JACK CRAP (and jack left town)
The most i could get for her would be 4 tho (if lucky) and its got new susp towers springs n shockz (all king) new brake system (booster pads discs) new tranny (auto) and new ECU (second hand) custom interior (grey velour) sony xplode system (headunit sub amps) with pioneer 6" 3 ways x4, Full hsv clubby kit wit hornet scoop and 180 000 kms on tha clock
I juss wish commies would hold their resale value![]()
Hold the phone, sorry mate didn't realise you were talking about a vr. A LS series into a VR costs a crap load but is worth it cause your car weighs heaps less than a factory LS1 install. If you are going to keep the car for the future do it for sure, but remember resale will still be crap. My car's lost 1k in 9 months and i've spent $1k on it so understand where you're coming from.
I've got a str33t commodores mag at home with a VR with a LS1 will find the edition number it's either 107 or 109 feb 2006

I juss went thru my Street como mags and OV COURSE im missing 107 (and its not in 109) lol. Il have to keep an open mind (And wallet) but jesus a twin turbo ls1 would be awesome especially in a VR![]()
how much does it cost to stroke a 6?
Bradey crank is ~$1700, then it's just machining. However, because the stroke is longer, some shorter conrods/pistons may be in order.
complete your engine door to door 230kw,from come $9000
2.5k for the come kit or you get a short motor built for n/a performance for 4.5k (no heads)

add another $2500 for heads, plus for tuning ,then dyno time to run it in,then plus for freight
