Question my super super low front springs

    aye fellas,

i recieved my front super-super-low springs today and just asking if this is the right code for my, VS 1997 commodore sedan.

    code: KHFL-22 SSL

because i sat it in my new struts for the front, and when it sits in place it doesnt sit straight? or will fit sit properly once i put the spring seat and such 2g4? i havent assembled the whole strut, i just placed the spring in the strut.

I Have KHFL-47SSL and when they sit in the strut i know what u mean, they seem to be too small in diameter.

Your spring is used as an ultra low for VB-VP where as mine is used as a SSL for a VR and as SL for a VS (thats what kings springs told me when I emailed them)

    hey mate...
ive got a 97 vs series II exec...the superlows ive got in the front are KHFL-47SSL, so looks like your gonna hafta change the ones that you have. and as for struts, i'm assuming u've got monro gt gas struts..the codes should be 35-3425 and 35-3424.
If your unsure about the spring codes just check out the king springs website, they have a table with all the codes for springs and what models they suit.

    Cheers

    Default whats going on??

ive got new struts for my new springs

    the new struts are

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....4577&rd=1&rd=1

and as for the springs another bloke gave me KHFL-22 SL which are said to be for VB-VP according to jon z and kingsrpings

and i specifically told the bloke that my car is a 97 VS.

but he tells me that they will fit??

    IS THIS TRUE?

the pix attached are as shown when i placed the springs in. will it sit straight once i put the top plate and such on?

    his email:
The springs are the same design between the 47 and 22 series. You requested ahub to guard measurement. You said you have 14.2 inches in the front, and want to lower the car by 2 inches. This will give a hub to guard of 12.2 inches, or 300mm, so i sent you the springs you asked for. If you knew you wanted 47ssl why didn't you ask for it. The springs will fit, and i have sold you what you asked for. What more would you like ???

I'm 90% sure they'll fit. and yeah the springs do sit a bit funny when they're not trapped in. when you fit the bearing/support and bearing plate they'll sit right. do youself a favour and replace the bearings, bearing supports and bump stops at the same time.
when you fit the springs, make sure the letters and numbers are the right way up, as this affects the way the spring sits on the strut

never heard of ultima... I think you misunbderstood my nolathane comment, they make bushes, trailing arms etc, not struts. but they're ****. they crumble and squeek. noltec are the other brand I couldn't think of.
anyways, got an electrical storm brewing so I gotta switch off now. if you got any more hassles or questions, PM me if ya want

also be careful when u locate the top bearing sin the rubber bushes up top. Pedders installed my front for me and they managed to crush the RH top bearing!

They were a bit embarrassed when went back that day, was a bit annoying that they couldn't get it right.

wasp don't look too bad, seen them on ebay, pretty sure they use noltec bushes. yeah you'll need spring compresors, mine cost about $20 from ricerbarn. and like jon said, be careful with the bearings, they're easy to crush, and break if you drop them. plus they need to be fitted round side up

actuly i had a proper look on the kings catalogue and those springs are ultra lows for vb-vp mine are the khfl 47ssl, so i guess you already know that. but it says that the khfl 47ssl is the lowest front spring they make.

and what do those numbers '22' '47' mean?...

not too sure about the numbers, email king springs they usually get back to you pretty quick.

just to clarify, nolathane dont "crack and crumble" unless its a bush that is supposed to be greased and isnt, nolathane throw in a bag of grease with any bush that needs it and says in the instructions TO grease them.

ive got nolathane adjustable strut tops, been in the car on ultras for over 18 months and not one problem, except they lift the height by about 2cm, as will all urethane/non rubber strut tops.

ive also got nolathane bushes in several other parts in the car, and not one problem yet
