I had 2 1/2" system (Cat back) done and l regret it. If you do alot of long driving, the drone can piss you off. I suggest l much more wiser 2 1/4" system, although it'll probably still drone.
But as for the best, it probably comes done to how much oyu want to spend.

i have a 2 1/2" cat back system on my vs and i absolutely love it. its really only loud if you put the foot down a bit, at any other time a reasonable radio will overpower it from within the car (outside is another matter)

You need a resonator near the end, not a regular one, a smaller one, i can't explain it, it came with the car on mine, thers no drone. It sounds like a 2 1/2 cat back only after 2000revs, so it will sound quiet when idling and when crusing down the highway at 100k's

Mine sounds like that now (nice when its sitting at the lights, quie while idling), my only issue is when the car is going up a hill or something similar. I was thinking of getting a resonator but l doubt it will solve my problem.

I recently had pacemaker extractor, Hi-flow cat, 2 1/2' sports system added to my VR V6 Auto for just under $1000 fitted. Sounds great for a V6. :p
The Exhaust

Very slight drone around 95 - 100kmph, but certainly bearable. Much better throttle response. :D

Small resonator should reduce droning without losing too much deep noise
