check the fuse, and also the power mirrors run off of the same fuse, so it could be blowing the fuse because of a faulty Power mirror switch, or possibly water in the power mirror from washing the car.
power mirrors are fine.is it the cable from drivers side that goes to the throttle assembly?
make sure all stop light are working as run through the same circuit.
will the crs light come up on cluster when turned on? when driving and trying to set the cruise does the 2nd light flash on?
I recently had trouble trying to switch on and set my cruise - pulled the back off the indicator stalk & had a broken wire in it - could be that.
mine was out a couple weeks ago found it to be the cruise relay under the dash was shagged
all the stop lights work fine. CRS does not come on. what are the regular ones that are displayed when car is being driven?mine has only the trip meter/fuel till empty etc displayed. sometimes absoff comes on .
thats it. what else should be on?highbeam does too.
Hello.
I have trouble with my cruise control not working on my VR wagon.
The both lights come on and it can be working perfectly and then all of a sudden they will both go off and I can't get it to switch on again.
After awhile in just appears back again and then I can use it???
It is not the fuse as the mirrors still work, not the switch behind the pedal as both the CRS and the ON light go off so I gather it is a total power loss not just a brake disingaging it, the 3 (wagon) brake lights work so not that and I have even swapped out the dash globed just in case they were faulty.
I have replaced the stalk about 2yrs ago because it had broken wires, just inspected this stalk tonight and it all looks fine where they come out.
When I preess the button to turn on the cruise I can hear a relay under the dash clicking??? but nothing.
Please help.
Hi,
I'm having a problem too with the Cruise control.
The CRS light comes on, but then when trying to set I cant get the second light to come on.
It was working intermittently before, and now the 2nd light doesn't come on, only CRS light comes on.
Any ideas other than indicator stalk/bad wire?
Does it have a separate control module or is it controlled by the BCM?
yeah good to bump this one up
im having same problem as above, CRS lights up, but ON wont
it will work on the odd occasion though, but most of the time it wont.
cheers
I also have the same problem on my VS and havent been able to find whats causing it.. It turns on no worries, but wont set.Ive replaced the cruise relay, checked the wiring in the stalk.Checked the brake pedal switches, and the brake and tail lights are all working.I think the only thing left to do is swap cruise modules.
Double check the brake switches, wind them in a lot to be sure they are getting a good contact, i had the same problem and the brake switches looked fine but actually werent threaded in far enuf, sure looked like they were but looks can be decieving
Also sounds simple and u may have checked already but make sure the cable is connected to the throttle properly and doesnt have too much slack

Well here's a list of things it could be.
1. Cruise Module
2. BCM
3. Stalk/Buttons
4. Wiring
I don't see how the brake switches will cause the CRS to turn on but not Engage, unless ofcourse one of the switches is permanently stuck on causing the CRS module to never want to engage? Guess that could be tested with a multimeter. What do you guys think?
I haven't had a look there, but as far as I know there are 2 switches........... One for Stop light + Cruise....... and one solely for cruise incase one fails. Now if the Stop+Cruise one is always engaged, then you'd know as the stop lights would always be on, but for the other one thats just for cruise, you'd have to unplug it to see if that's causing the problem.
Right,
I have began with the stop switches, it seems that the switch with 2 wires (Pink and Brown) has continuity no matter whether the brake is pressed or not,
I thought this would be always keeping Cruise control OFF, so I unplugged the switch and still nothing.
Could somebody do me a favour who has Cruise working fine. Take the plug off the switch (The plug that has 2 wires going to it, pink and brown), and test with
a multimeter whether it has continuity with the brake pedal pressed and not pressed.
Thanks.
why dont you just test your switch for continuity?? It should be in the depressed position usually (probly continous power) and when the brake is applied and the switch opens there is probly no continuity.
Either way testing it should tell you if the switch changes from continuous to open curcuit or vice-versa

i had the same problem in my vs. the CRS light would turn on but i couldnt set a speed. i got new calipers put on and that fixed the problem. go figure!
Hi,
From reading those instructions, I found out that I can't get the "ON" lamp to flash for 1 second as described in first 2 boxes on the first page (btw my CRS is working now fine), but I cant get the ON button to flash on for 1 second for that diagnostic. Does that indicate some sort of problem? Also my CRS light doesn't come on when i put it on Ignition so the test in the boxes should work I guess.
Also, I've fixed the CRS. I'll explain what was the problem.
The CRS System seems to have a logic inbuilt to be able to test if the brake switches (Both of them) are working as they should.
The problem was that my second brake switch (Pink and brown wire) ALWAYS had continuity regardless of pedal down or up.
Now that switch NORMALLY should have continuity with brake pedal up, so you'd think it would not affect it, What I suspect is
that it has an inbuilt failsafe, so it monitors the second brake switch for operation..... example if the brake switch never opens/closes.... the CRS system will assume that it's faulty and not want to put CRS on. This is it's way of making sure that both brake switches are always functioning at any given time.
Turned out I just needed to adjust it, as it screws around on a thread.
That was my problem, you guys should try it.
The1 are those instructions off the GMH Manual?

Hi, Update.
Cruise is upto it's old tricks again, working intermittently, very weird.
Might check out the stalk.
Hi
now i was wondering was this means the cruise controll light does not come on but the on light does i havent checked the dash lights , i have a feeling it will be that .
but the crs does not always work it ,some times is every third time i start the car
like the previous peppole the power mirrors work and the fuse hasnt blown
and some times the crs just turns off by its self and wont go back on
plz help
the cruise controls also run through the cluster, so if there's a bad trace underneath it will cut it out, i had this also from taking the cluster in and out to many times i had cut a trace underneath, i had power but wouldn't not engage.
