    Default Water pump ?

I have just installed a new water pump for the very first time, every thing went well till the end when i notice i had 2 little holes empty on the pump housing, i looked at my old water pump and and there is 2 little bits of metal in those 2 holes, i guess that they punch out but what is the proper proceeder of installing them in my new pump, do you just tap them gently in with some lock nut liquid surrounding them ?
    thanks

Well so long as u put all the bolts back where they came, it may just be holes there for universial fit as it may fit other models with different bolt patterns. Fill the cooling system up with normal water and check for leaks.

When replacing the bolts I copied the same pattern as the Gregories manual displayed, 4 long bolts & 4 smaller bolts all in their correct holes, the old pump housing is identical to the new one, the old housing had 2 little metal lugs that punched out with a bit of force, the new housing has 2 empty small holes in the same place as the old one, there is a hole in the new gasket for something.
I guess i might have to phone the spare part store were i brought it, this has got me stumped.
    thanks anyway

I just phoned the spare parts place and the guy said that they aren't anything to worry about, those metal lugs i spoke of are only just positioners when fitting the pump, he said you should not leak any water from there, they are not part of the workings of the pump itself.
So tomorrow i will do as SSbeast advised in the first place, thanks mate.

I think the pump does two models, one has locating pins that go into those holes and one doesn't.

The one i got was from " Bursons auto spare parts" on the receipt it just says a Bursons water pump, anyway it seems that the holes are not a problem but i still would like test it with tap water first before i put the distalled water & coolant in.

When testing, seeing I have already taken off the bottom radiator hose to dump the radiator water out, now when i test it, if i stick the garden hose up that rubber pipe & undo the top radiator hose from the motor end, will all the water come out the top hose so i can put the distilled water and cooler in then ?

I am trying to do this on crutches so i am looking for easiest way to do it.
    thanks for your help
