I dont think i have driven a supercharged car... But I have driven v8's I drove my bros 400hp vh commie and man that was quick and powerful. I love v8's
Commodore all the way!
You cant beat the sound of a V8, but if you get the Super6 and up the boost to 10psi, youll be eating 5.0L V8 all day.
I would know.
J.
whats wrong with the VQ??
about the only thing the ol' 304 has going for it is the sound, and a tad more torque than the L67. other than that they'll perform similar when both in stock form.
i know if it were me id get the L67 stato, just because its so easy to up the boost, get some rockers and a tune and then you'll be laughing.
Quagmire: My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.
L67 has 90% torque from 1500 RPM through to 5000 RPM
Peak torque and power are basically the same, but the L67 gets there sooner and stays there for longer.
I'd personally go the L67, they are nuts off the line and plenty of power, but some people just want a v8 too![]()
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
I faced this exact dilemma when looking for mine
I went with the L67 - and suffice to say I made the right choice. Ran a 14.9 down the quarter dead standard (single spinner, stock air filter, full weight) - good luck seeing a stock standard 5L do that.
In the end I was tossing up between those 2 or a WH 5.7. I kind of regret not going for the LS1, but the VS's weight a few hundred kilos less than the WH so my decision was made easier.
Good luck, and I hope you find what you are looking for
you can always supercharge the v8 but you cant add 2 cylinders to the v6.
I may be bias as i have a v8 but i'd go the v8.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
If going the FI route then yeah - definitely go the V8 - the 5L responds very well to blowers. But some people don't want to go that far.
In my experiences the L67 will be better bang for buck than the 5L UNLESS either turbo/supercharging the 5L is what you are after. If that is the case get the V8, if you don't want to go stupid on it get the V6
I am EXTREMELY happy with the L67 in the Stato
I love how many L67 Statos are on this forum.
Makes me feel so at home.
J.
Just remember this... MINIMUM 350nm from 1500 thru 5000rpm... you NEED an L67 dude
Peak figures might be near identical (some suggest that holden downplayed the l67 in favour of pushing a "big v8")... but that torque curve... if you can even call it a curve, is fabulous.
