scored a VS executive for spare parts and upon removing the steering wheel, found no airbag, despite the fact its no different to a calais wheel which of corse does, so I checked my VS exec and no bag, I feel violated(I don't care really But) years of driving in confidence knowing that when if I crash the bag will save me, But no its a big phoney steering wheel full of empty space that looks like it has a air bag, whats the deal there?!?
you can have 2 airbags or none at all,
Executives really are a poverty edition
VR came with airbags only in the Calais and the Acclaim, similar to the VS.
Im driving around in a SII Exec and when i first brought it i assumed it had air bags as well. Alas i was mistaken. Much like ABS brakes. All my mates say that VR came with ABS... but it was only the Calais and Acclaim.
are you sure you haven't got a VR mate? i have read that the exec's all came with driver's airbag on the VS (factory manual i think), but as Grennan has said, the VR came with airbag on driver's side in higher models.
just a thought mate, but i assumed all VS' came with at least drivers bags?

The VZ is here! About time!
VS air bag was optional on the lower models.
yea, I know the VR exec didnt have have one, that was obvious since the wheel was toatally different
it just seems random that holden would use a airbag steering wheel for non bag option
My VR clubsport came with no air bag either, but I gather all the VR's built in 93 never had them
Mine was built late 94![]()
Airbags were only in the safety package cars that were aimed at families like the acclaim. If you wanted an airbag in your exec, you had to pay a little extra. I spose the reason behind the different steering wheel is simply they couldnt be bothered using 2 different designs.
If you look closely at the steering wheel you will see it has AIRBAG printed on it, if you have an air bag. The non airbag and airbag steering wheels are actually completely different, the horn pads are different too. The other way you can check is by folding down the sunvisor, the airbag info is printed there.
My olds have a series one VS exec and it doesn't have an airbag, as they were optional back then. VS Acclaim has the dual airbags as does Calais standard, and the Berlina came with drivers airbag standard. My Berlina also has dual airbags, but the passenger one was optioned up.
just having a look at a old brocheur I dug up for the VR commodore interesting what you can have in an executive I could opt for
V8, manual, fE2 suspension, LSD, aircon, power windows, and some extra gadgets, make a sleeper from factory
I have VS S2 executive and that has an airbag because when you pull down the drivers visor, its mentions about the airbag and when it need to serviced. Also the horn has two thumb spots (Be pretty funny if you thumped the horn in the center of the steering wheel like standard and the airbag went off) . Not sure if it is standard though.
I have a VS and it came with drivers and passenger's airbag. On exec models I think they are an option.
The steering wheel on the vs with the airbag and the steering wheel without the airbag is actually quite different.
Without airbag
The holden sign existed in a type of burrow about three centremetres into the wheel
With airbag
The holden sign onthe steering wheel existed level with the rest of the steering wheel (no burrow) Also on the steering wheel it wrote 'SRS airbag'. Airbag details and safety precations were written on the sunvisors. 'SRS' (suplemental restraining system) was also written on the black strip of plastic between the front and back door on the drivers side and on both sides if your vehicle also had a passanger airbag.
So year there not quite the same.![]()
ive got a series2 VS exec and it doesnt have a airbag... but it does have ABS![]()
i never thought to check before...
i just assumed vs executive came with at least a drivers air bag..
how disapointing
