    Default Identifying IRS?

    Hey Guys!
    After 8 years I finally brought my first Commodore! It's a series1 VS V6 and Im about to start shopping for parts. Problem is, I dont know how to spot the difference between IRS and non IRS. Pics might help! :S Thanx

    should be a sticker below the radio saying abs/irs if it has that option, thats the main difference i know of.

    The rear wheels should be on a slight angle, that means IRS and also when you put it in drive the rear of the car should bog down.

    Best way to tell is to have a look under the car and at the differential. In IRS the diff is bolted onto the chassis.

    also look at the rear spings if the top and bottom coil are smaller than the ones in the middels u have i.r.s

    this thread: Stupid Question time

    i have supplied a rough MS paint diagram and also photos showing an example of both Live axel and IRS.

    also as a side question, what level is your VS? eg; mine is an executive, the base model..

    Easiest way to tell if you have IRS is to look at the exhaust. IRS it goes under the axle, non IRS (live axle) it goes over.

    Thanx guys... I feel like a bit of a dummy, but Id rather ask than nod and pretend 2 know the answer. Im sure u will be hearing more of my Jessica Simpson questions in the near future! lol Thanx again!

    what model VS is it??? eg: calais, executive, berline, SS, acclaim???

    the base model executive doesnt have IRS... i have one of them so i no that one lol

    but not sure about what other ones dont

    lol..... at the above post^^^^ OK how about this, Jessica Simpon's tits is independent of each other!!! You lift one up it does not affect the other, there ya go. Thats the concept on independent setup in cars. (IRS) One wheel won't affect the other.

    Yes her IRS system is definantly impressive.... but anyway... moving on! lol It is a base model executive, non IRS as it turns out which Im told is a good thing performance wise... Thankyou 2 everyone for the pics and feedback!
