what gears you have now, 3.08 i'll assume. it really depends on what you intend to do wth your car, if it's a weekend warrior racer then definitly 3.9's if it's a daily driver and some sort of fue leconomy is important then either 3.45 or 3.7's would be the way to go. the higher the ratio the quicker it will take off and rev out. again, if 1/4mile times are important then 3.9's woud be the way to go but aren't great for highway cruising

Yeah it all depends on how much highway driving you do and how much you drive the car.
Personally when i get around to doing the gears in my clubby I wont be going any higher than 3.7's because i do a lot of driving in it as its my daily.

oh yea so if i do end up geting 3:7's will the fuel economy be alot diferent?
coz it is my daily driver and i do use the highway/ freeway every day...
also i do cruise a fair bit to :
will 3:7 be the way to go or 3:45's

I have a quote for $500 for gears plus $500 for install etc, assuming there is nothing majorly wrong with the diff when they pull it apart.

Best calculator is revs @ 100km/hr divided by current ratio then times that number by your new ratio to see how many revs you will be doing at 100km/hr

    e.g. 2000rpm/ 3.08 * 3.7

Will give you an idea from how much extra your car is revving on the highway to the increase in consumption.

Best question I have for you is why do you want to change the ratio? If it's for drag racing have you raced down the strip yet?
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?

well as ppl say it is the best bang for buck in performance increase i can do for my car with out having to work my motor.. i was thinkin of getin a stage2 shift kit but ppl say its not going to improve nethin apart from beter shifts..
diff gears would be a beter use as it would have faster acceleration and a beter 1/4 time.. i am goin to take my car down the strip to see wat it can do.
but as u asked i do like to have fast take off and all that

Definately take it down the quater first then decide. You want to see when you car is shifting. A lot of guys at our drag day were changing into overdrive before the end of the track because their final ratio was too close. It will definately improve your launches and I wouldn't overlook a shiftkit.
