    Default TCC lockup question

    Hey guys,

    Took the car for a rap up a hill this morning. Was in 3rd doing 80 and got a rumbling sound that I'm almost positive is the TCC slipping. Only happened when the hill started to get steep and the car was working. Sound was similar to a noise I had back in 99 when I first got the car which was the TC.

    Just to confirm, I'm pretty sure the TCC locks up at 55km in 3rd...anyone enlighten me?

    Thanks

    G'Day Clacks, dunno for sure but I always thought the TCC only locked up when the car had quit accelerating and was basically "cruising" with the speed above 80kph. I know it only needs a slight nudge on the accelerator to disengage....maybe engine vacuum is part of the requirement as well as well as vehicle speed and gear engaged. I'll bet when you got the rumbling sound your back pocket started feeling uncomfortable! Good Luck.

    TCC lockups on at a certain TPS percentage reading. depending on the speed youre going, the tcc will lockup at a different TPS reading.

    1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
    Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
    1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
    9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD

    Thanks for the responses guys.

    When originally replaced, the installer had troubles getting the TCC to not slip, it went back a few times and they said they changed some things. Maybe lock up points were one thing they did. I can see the revs drop a hundred or so on the tach so I'm sure its lockup.

    Ideally I'd like to disable lockup but I don't think there is an easy way. I might ask a holden dealer if they can do anything there.

    Thanks

    whats the go with getting that fixed?
    Cheers, Ben.
