check engine light comes on????

Funny thing happened today, when i turn the fan on real fast ,like slide it up to 3rd or 4th setting quickly the thing splutters and the orange check engine light comes on 4 a split second.But if i turn it on normally (u know click,click etc) all is ok....about 3 weeks ago i replaced the relay associated with fan,air cond and rear demister and all was fine...still is, except 4 this silly hiccup. I think the auto electrician may have used a second hand relay as he said they are a common fault in these models, however he only charged me 15 bucks and off i went happy as Larry..lol...i'm thinking of buying a new genuine relay just to be sure...Soooo what do the panel of experts reckon...i'm all ears.

Well i ended up taking the relay out altogether....and guess what ?....the beasty goes like a rocket...ok at the moment no air cond,fan or rear demist, BUT it sure is better than before.Now i'm gonna buy a genuine relay and see what happens...lets hope there's no underlying problem stuffing relays..it really was problematic causing the thing not to change into 2nd at high rev's and stuff like that. Now i can hit 5ooo rpm and it belts into 2nd & 3rd nooo problemo...lol.
