    Default Help BCM issues

Hey can someone let me know why I have two BCM's? One is up under the passenger side lower trim panel and other is drivers side lower trim panel (up above fuse box) I know there are two different types like high series BCM and Low series BCM but shouldn't I just have the High series one? Got me wired...mmmm

ah yes one is a ecu which is the (ecu) engine management computer (located behind the passenger side kick panel) and the (bcm) body control module is located under the dash is for running upgrades and other things in the car like the central locking, lighting delays etc. all vr/vs have these. they are totally different things. so its all ok

If you have ABS there is a computer behind the drivers side kick panel. Also there is the electric arial module above the glove box (top left hand corner). Other than that I can't think of anything else, does it have an aftermarket alarm? It maybe for that or it had one and the remote didn't work so they left it in and didn't give you/replace the remote. Take some pics an you should be able to get a definate answer.

After mentioning the alarm, I seem to remember a couple of other people finding a black box up under the glovebox, which turned out to be an alarm of some sort that was factory fitted. It was only in the VP I thought.

cheers NickVR I will try and get a photo later today. I am 100% sure that it's a BCM up behind the glove box It's got Body Control Module on it and so has the one on drivers side. I had it out yesterday (the one up behind the glove box) and the other was easy to read on drivers side. Bit strange though hey...
    And stock alarm, I'm sure.....

They do have that key on the pillar on VP and VR's. It could be something to do with that. But definately get some pics up, it would be interesting.

Damn you do have 2 BCM's. The yazaki is a VS bcm and the bosch (If I remember correctly) is for VR. Got me stumped, what buttons do you have on your key? If you have 1 button for lock/unlock then your using the VR one. But if you have 2, lock and unlock then your using the VS one. Definately ask Holden what is going on cos that is really weird.

Yeah right, so it's from a VS. lol What the hell is going on...
I have only one button on key for lock and unlock and one for the boot. Sometimes when I'm really close it doesn't unlock and also sometimes I turn the key and nothing like not even a crank like the ring around the barrel is stuffed and the key head...but please don't say I need new ones because they are both new...Yeah it might pay to ask Holden maybe.
Cheers for clearing it up Nick. Did you check you BCM out?

I removed the plugs out of the VR BCM and she still fired up. Shouldn't it stop me from cranking with the immobilizer within the BCM? Maybe I will try and remove the VS one and see what happens.
I would rather not take it to Holden I would need at least $200 bucks for them to steal off me I reckon.

Here is a pic of mine. Don't worry about the writing in the pic. It was used for a question I asked ages ago. It's a yazaki one. If the immobilser is unplugged then you won't be able to lock the car with the remote, interior light delay won't work and it shouldn't start. Try unplugging the passenger side one and see how you go.

Vr v6 Berlina's usually have one large Hi series BCM instead you have two small ones. Iv'e noticed that neither of your BCM's are labelled low mid or hi like all all other standard Holden BCM's. Your car not that strange it's just one of the very, very first vr's made. Your car has key overide (unlike timmed overide for 98% of vr's) as seen by the BCM 522 TDM hence has two BCM's. This means that you have a switch on the passanger side pillar for arming or disarming your immobeliser (much like the vp's.)

The switch you mean, the inside of passenger door right? If I haven't got the key can I still turn it off? Cross the wires over or something? The previous owner lost it...

Maybe a flat head srew driver and wrench it to turn it off. To see if my starting issue will stop (well at least the code 31)

I'm very interested in this quote cruzn, One thing, if mine was one of the very first made how could it have a VS BCM?

early VR has a seperate Theft Deterrent Module on the passengers side, same case as a BCM, the Bosch unit doesnt support the holden type remotes, basically the Bosch unit is the same as the High level VP one, you need them both.
