G'day,
Has been awhile since ive last posted however i would like some opinions.. I'm still currently driving my 96' Executive VS series 1 (buick style engine) and have spent my fair share on the ole' gal.. On tuesday i've organised to do a full trans conversion. From the normal 4sp 4L60 to a Getrag 5sp from a 1998 VS or newer ute im told. Im quoted $2500 fitted drive in drive out. (Mind you my 4L60 has shat itself). However he said a T-5 would be $2000 flat drive in drive out? And for another 4L60 4Sp Auto.. $550 fitted. However, i'd like a 5sp manual
My car itself has around 210,000k on the clock.. Has had over $4k in reconditioning (belt, plugs, filters, bushes, tie rods, suspension, engine, pulleys, coilpacks, 2.5" catback etc.) Well looked after.
However i'm curious as to whether this $2000+ is worth it and which transmission would be better. Hydraulic Getrag or the Tremec T-5. Any opinions would be appreciated. Cheers.

there are probaly a few different opinions out there but the way i understand it is that the T5 is probably the stronger box but the getrag is a smoother shifting box
