Colour Coding the Mirrors - Easy to remove mirrors?

Hey guys,

Just a quicky - I want to take the mirrors off and paint the outside (black part) white to match the car, is it fairly easy to remove the mirrors or a nightmare job involving removing the interior door trims? I have electric mirrors. Also what preparation should I do prior to painting? (sanding, what type of primer etc.)

MIRROR ASSEMBLY REMOVE

1. Remove door air box assembly from door trim.
2. Remove screw securing mirror inner cover and carefully pull cover free from door upper frame.
3. Remove three screws securing mirror assembly to door upper frame and separate mirror from door frame.
4. Disconnect wiring harness connector from mirror assembly lead and remove mirror assembly.

NOTE: Ensure that door wiring harness to mirror assembly connector is taped to door frame. If connector is allowed to fall into door cavity the inner door trim may have to be removed to allow reinstallation of mirror assembly.

Thanks guys, I'm surprised how far they've come in building these cars compared to the older models like VH etc, so many screws to hold so many components together. I got everything off without snapping everything (damn those screws hidden behind the vents - nearly snapped but didn't happen lol)..

Just wondering one more thing, I got to the stage where now I'm driving around with 2 screws holding the mirror into place until I know it's not going to rain so I get a chance to paint without the door filling with water, is it possible to pull the mirror to pieces so I can paint just the outside or is it one of those things where I need to mask up the glass?

Thanks hak, that's some really good advice! I sanded, masked, primed and painted - looks pretty damn good except.. I only had enough time/paint to do one.. my car looks unique for now LOL
