    Question Airbag cover

hey my passenger airbag cover has poped up a tad, now i know this is a common problem so i was just wondering how to fix it cos holden has quoted me $800 to fix it, i have tired leaving my car in the sun then placing bricks on top but it don't really seem to work, would using glue be a gd idea?

. hmm wouldnt suggest glue as that could stop the deployment of the airbag. correctly.i suggest getting a dashmat to cover it? saves 800 dollars.

The idea of the dashmat with the AirBag models is that they have a cutout to make sure the air bag deploys properly.

I am having the same issue Rabbit and i know that every one you can find at the wreckers has the same problem ...

A new cover for the passenger side airbag costs about $160 direct from Holden and it will take a couple of hours to fit as the dash has to be removed to fit the new cover. If I was you I would ring around for some more prices because $800 seems a little steep.

Any mechanic should be able to fit a new cover for you and I imagine it would be much cheaper than Holden. I cannot recommend a good mechanic in the Adelaide area though because im from the country.

Unfortunately - not legal, unroadworthy, uninsurable. Sucks but true.

^^ That is debateable and still something i am looking into.

QLD Trans have so little info available.

I am of the understanding that as they airbag in mine (pass side) and it was not standard OEM equipment, that I may remove it - This is yet to be confirmed in writing.

Debate it if you like, but be sure to check your facts b4 you do anything rash. Removing safety feature fitted to a vehicle is illegal - be that airbag on the dash, the steering wheel, disabling abs or any other 'option' provided with a car is just not allowed.

Good to see you are not likely to jump in and do anything rash.
