Hey guys, just need a bit of help. When i'm accelerating (not flat out) and the tacho hits about 3000-4000rpm i can hear sort of an intermitant hissing/slipping noise about 2-3 times a second. It could be a belt but it kindof sounds like air escaping or entering somewhere. I'm not sure if it happens at flat out cause the engine is too loud.
Any help appreciated, cheers.
happend to me aswell....turned out one of my coils was shagged..change all 3 and the problem went away
hope this helps![]()
Maybe exhaust leak somewhere. But that means you lose a bit of power too. Any power loss??
Yea i do feel a bit of power loss, i think maybe blocked catalytic converter? but i'l get the coils checked first.
could be similar to a problem we had. ours sounded like a ticking noise and was far worse under acceleration. it was the exhaust gasket where the extractors connected up to the engine. when the extractors were fitted (at a "reputable" exhaust specialist), they didn't put a gasket there, just silicone! eventually it started to leak air. $110 fixed it up, $40 for the gasket and the $70 labor.
maybe this helps?

I think i have the same problem in my VT 5 speed. The noise starts at 3000Rpm and continues on through hard acceleration i also notice it on light acceleration. If it is the Gasket what is the easisest way to get it off ive heard that those bolts tend to brake fairly easy.. THANX =D
That does sound like a leaky exhaust gasket or something similar. Hope you get your's rectified soon.![]()
