hi all ...Friday as we were finishing work my boss reversed his truck into the back of my VR....it has twisted the boot slightly so that the boot in now overlapping the tail light slightly and looks like the corner of the boot had hit the rubber that holds the rear windscreen in..even tho the window didn't break at the time..but when i went to check on it the next morning the whole window was cracked and collapsed inwards as soon as i started the car...
so my question is y didnt it break when the car was hit?is it possible that there was a small crack and that it just spread overnight?
just worried that cause it didnt break straight away my boss wont pay for it..
thanks all
It probably had pressure on it (with the boot lid hitting it) and had put a small stress chip in it and over night with the temp change "bang". Also when you closed your door getting in teh car can be enough to bust it if it had a small fracture.
Small story here: I have seen a empty Glass expolde in front of me (some years ago now) On seaching for an answer on how it could happen I found out that if a glass has had a hit at some point it may not shatter then but at some point later it will let go.
