Just wondering guys, what goes harder, a stock vn v6 auto or a stock vs v6 auto? and also, is there any noticable power loss having a vs acclaim due to the added weight?

VN when they were new. If you had to choose which car now though, get the VS it's easier to make go faster

You'll have to ask the VS boys how much power a bolt on VS makes but you wont get much more than 115rwkw from a VN. The VS responds better because it has better heads

Vn is 120 something KW, a VS have 147KW ecotec. Vs definietley goes harder and does not weight much over the vn.

VN is 125 KWs and is the lightest commodore made. The VS has no chance off the line the VN will crush it and alot of VS VT VX want to drag from 40km up and the wack it back into first but they have electronic gearboxes and a VN has a Kickdown cable so still the VS has no chance even if the VS puts it into first before the VN does no dout the VN will change faster because of the cable driven kickdown. you can put a VN into first gear practically when ever u want. wouldnt advise anything over 60 unless its work or something. the VS might beat the VN up high say 3rd gear over 120km but who wants to get up to 120km and drag its off the line that counts and a VN will take a VS anyday. and there 6-7years older.

VN all day everyday. VS does have better top end, but VN owns down low with 92% of max torque available from a measly 1200rpm.

Also, the Ecotec engine in the VS is a POS, the VS I had had alot of cooling issues and I had alot of problems with the engine. The VN just goes forever.

The VS is newer though, and overall a nicer car but I'd get a 5L VS if anything, steer clear of the VS V6.

You have obviously not driven a VN mate.

92% of max torque available from just 1200rpm, the VN owns down low. The ecotec is a horrible engine, and put me off ever buying a V6 commodore again after I owned my VS. It is not as reliable as the buick which will soldier on all day, it doesnt take a thrashing very well and the cooling system is not very reliable imo, every VS i've driven runs much hotter than my VN (double). Perhaps its because they rev so high compared to the buicks. The VS has a better top end from factory, but not enough to beat a VN down the quarter or to 100 unless its a sh1t VN.

The VS is newer though, and overall a nicer car but I'd get a 5L VS if anything, steer clear of the VS V6.

I like how he asked it in both sections to see if there was any difference. I was wondering how many VS owners were going to assume the VS was quicker without really knowing about VN's. I still say the ecotec has much more potential in NA form, anything from a big CAI to a exhaust to a cam makes a big difference on a ecotec. On the earlier motor all those things are only worth half as much. You will allways have to play catch up against the VN being lighter which is a big issue with a V6. A live axle exec VS isn't tooooo bad for weight but you wouldn't want anything heavier than that

it's a simple fact of life, more weight is harder to shift, yes the later models have more power but gained more weight then power to move it, they got slower of the line, yes they may pick up better from 100km plus but then 100km is the max legal road speed so whats the point really. go find the official holden times for VN/VP/VR/VS all the way to VE for 0-100km/h. that should about cover it

hahahahaha, i got one of those too (but it's a V8 so we won't compare it to a V6 cause it's not exactly standard).

you've probably hit the nail on the head about the condition of the car, most VN have been flogged to death by now
