    Default Door Lock Help...

    hi all,
im having a bit of trouble with my drivers door. I got out of it tonight, and went to close the door and lock it as usual, but it wouldnt close, kinda like the handle had stayed up.. anyways, i went and grabbed some WD and my old man (the previous owner) and put some WD on the actual locking mechanism on the mid side of the door (not sure what u call it).

anyway, we got the door shut, and locked, and now it wont unlock. tried using the key, and the remote, but no go. all other doors are unlocking fine, and the noise is still there for the drivers door but no movement.

now because the door is shut, with no chance of opening, i cant get the skirt off and have a look..
the lock at the top of the door is just not moving at all, but u can push and pull it up or down, without unlocking.. it just permantly locked, and stays just a little above where it should in the usual locked position..

if there is anyone that can help, i would really appreciate it..
    thankyou..

No chance of pulling the trim off? - think I've read it is possible to either fully or partially remove or pull back the door panel enough to access the latch. Maybe with the seat all the way back/fully reclined or even removed may allow this.

with the seat fully removed i may have a chance, but getting it out of the car might be a bit of a hassel.. might have to move the passenger seat.. the main thing stopping the trim is the speaker container compartment thing..

do u need any special tools to get the trim off? i dont want to break anything, i have pretty bad luck when it comes to cars & fixing things...
i will have a quick whack at things but ill keep checking on here for updates..
    thankyou.

The only really tricky part is getting the red clip off the door lock. Behind it is a screw. Once that is undone and the rest of the screws are out, you may be able to pull the trim back enough to get at the lock. The only other option is to smash the handle and go in from the outside. Cutting the trim is another way, but a new handle is cheaper than a door trim.

I have to ask, you need to turn the key fairly hard clockwise to unlock it manually, have you tried this?

haha, ok.. now this is where it gets weird.. after half hour of playing with it, i get the door to unlock, and open.. it then locks itself a few more times, but i continue to persist and get it unlocked.. i eventually get the trim off (thanks for the tip on the red thing), and it still has the same prob. only its now prevoked from if u have the car locked, and lift the outside handle, then u unlock it will stay locked, the lock knob will lift up, but not fully.. but u can fix it by pulling and pushing on it, and it eventually comes full unlock.

anyways, now the same problem has moved onto my passenger door, and i cant get that one open at all..
ive checked the fuses, and all that other stuff, could this be possessed? or just an electrical fault? or even mechanical?

Take the lock out and bend the metal away a bit from the little spring closest to the actuator. Worked with mine. May help with yours...
