96 VS Ute, heavy duty clutch

I have searched, but may have missed... I am after a heavy duty clutch for my 96 VS V6 5spd ute. They may come with a heavy duty clutch already (mine was replaced at 110,000kms), so if thats the case, I want extra heavy duty. Basically, once I change this clutch, I dont want to replace it again untill the car dies. Its coming up to 260,000kms now, and all is fine, but if you give it to it off thee lights, or are tyre slipping thru the mud at the local tip, you can smell it burning a little. And any manual ute owners out there know the pleasure of 2nd gear, 4500rpm, and side stepping the cutch.. not that I have done that more than 3 times since owning the car.

So yeah, and recommendations for a strong as clutch would b nice.

mate just put a exceedy heavy duty in his ute, but u will have to replace the flywheel with the getrag box, it sucks i know, thankfully mine is still goin well, touch wood

thankyou. Just rang about the mentioned clutch. $220 supplied. No flywheel mods needed for the series 1. Rang a clutch specialist who confirmed that. Sweet.

o serious thats good, unfortunatley for mine and my mates the series II they do need to be replaced, it cost him around $800 for that clutch, a flywheel and fitting.

I have the cable clutch with the factory fitted squeaky cable. The series II have a hydraulic version.

i got a '95 VS ute, same box as yours, i just had the fly machined, and a new rear main while i was at it. 2nd at over 4k in mine is nice...in wet, even better.. however!! check out the RPM clutch range. they are a bit dearer than an EXEDY however i got told they are actually stronger than an EXEDY HD (non button version) now i cannot tell you how good they are long term, but at themoment, it is LIGHTER than my stock clutch, but tight as hell. i clutch kicked it in 2nd and IT LOVED IT mate.. slid a mile and sooo smooth! so it's been in just over a week now, and i have punished it, snapping nearly every gear, and as a daily driver it is nice. i went this option as i wanted to keep it a nice car to drive, and it IS nice, with the snap when you want it!! i HIGHLY suggest you go heavy duty, but for now i do not have the knowledge on what is good, except my mate cooked 2x EXEDY HD's in two an a half weeks in his (highly modded) torana!! i was still ready to go exedy till i was told to od this. no regrets yet!!!! smooth and light as i said..

hey human. Thanks for your opinion. I will look into that. I really dont give my ute heaps on a regular basis. Quite rarely actually, but its fun on the odd occasion.
Yeah, the ute was the best move I made. I wanted a VS since they came out in 94/5, and I got one finally (in a manual) on 2001/2.
