Quick answer is nothing, could be as little as a level 3 dash, all the way up to every box ticked.

well if its an HSV enhanced vehicle- i think all it means is that it has and performance exhaust and memcal(from hsv)

which should have an build plate and the engine covers should say 185kw injection
a standard vr is a 165kw

Having a car enhanced could mean getting anything fitted at HSV. A power Pack, a dash, or the full power kit (Exhaust CAI etc), or EVERYthing, but i doubt anyone would do that, as they could probably buy a senator cheaper.


Even a car that is 'enhanced' by HSV, that only has a level3 dash fitted, is still going to have a HSV build plate.

also there is a SS based HSV but its not in VR's there VS only(HSV Manta)

have not alot of diffrence between them and a standard SS, trim is diffrent Level 2 cluster is standard, SS kit etc

Not sure how extensive the options were, for example, getting them to put the HSV kit on, i think thats one thing they wouldn't fit.

Not all HSV models are based on Calais', i think only senator. I've seen clubbys without climate control/power windows before etc

Because to get a HSV enhanced plate, you just needed something fitted by HSV.

I was going to buy an enhanced SS, that only had the trip computer installed by HSV, everything else was as it left the holden factory.
People just automatically assume HSV enhanced means power upgrades.

Feel free to ring HSV and tell them their records are wrong.


I wouldn't have believed it either, but i heard it for myself. The lady on the phone said 'the only work THAT car has had done in HSVs factory was a Level 3 Dash.

That upgrade is available at factory level, dealer level, or HSV level.

To get the correct answer. The differences are HSV CAI, HSV exhaust, Recalibrated computer gives smoother power delivery, HSV build plate, 185 plates on the fuel covers placed over the 5000i, on the back there is a V8 Performance Enhanced plate. On mine there is a data recording black box under the drivers seat (only 10 SS enhancements with airbags, 4 manual, 6 autos have this. It records crash data for the airbag deployment amongst other things) The interior is standard SS except for this. Because of the HSV CAI they have a different radiator. They also have a tuned set of extractors, with a Hi Torque starter motor which has a larger solenoid. The 185kw HSV enhancement package cost $2560 and could only be done by HSV on Brand New pre-delivered vehicles, HSV would not do this pack once the car was delivered. If there are any doubters out there, I have owned mine since NEW and I can tell you just about everything there is to know about this vehicle. Mine is series 1 VR in Genesis Blue with Capricorn (SS) cloth trim. Is exactly as it was delivered new, has 142880 k's, has every option available at the time except an electric aerial. Includes fully electric tilt/slide sunroof, 5speed manual and is a dream to drive. It cost $48834 all up, base price in 1994 was $36164. I still have the original sales invoice and sales brochure(book). I hope this helps clear up the questions. The build number is 426 with option XX1. The enhanced pack is what I stated above, anything less is a fake.

Please explain how the VS SS i checked the numbers for was HSV enhanced, and the only option HSV fitted was a Level 3 Dash.

You bought a pack, you could still option and de option certain things.

What is the build number. Also what do you mean by you bought a back. One correction the enhanced plate is on the boot on the drivers rear (not back) to the left of the SS sticker under the taillight.
On the VRs the enhance pack came as a complete pack, there was no de options. It was all or nothing.

Don't have the build number, as i didn't buy the car. Didn't want to pay HSV insurance just for a trip computer.

We are talking about two different models. As I said on the VRs the enhance pack came as a complete pack. On the HSV build plate the complete performance pack has part# 07949 & 1 with the option XX1 without these numbers it is not what you would expect it to be. The 1 on the end of the part# is for the box under the seat.

FYI I spent 5 months researching everything about it before buying this brand new in sept 1994 even though it was supposed to be delivered in julyand know everything there is to know about this pack on VRs. I have all the original paperwork and documentation and spec sheets and PURCHASE ORDER/Sales Invoice & Original SS brochure with all the options listed.

Were not saying your car isn't a HSV. There were different options avaliable. You could order 1 thing, or in your case, you could order a whole pack.

The SRS module is under the seat, no options here.

you may have owned the car since new & you may have read all the propoganda from HSV but you are not reading what is being said here.
a car was considered to be HSV enhanced if ANYTHING was fitted by HSV.
I have no doubt yours is a nice example & has many many options from HSV but you need to do more research on SRS systems before telling people about them.

Please refrain from childish name calling, consider this a first & last warning.
