    Default dirty dirty rear end

Hey guys have had my commy for a while now and am starting to get fet up with having to clean the rear end every second day because of black **** coming out of my exhaust i know it has something to do with un burnn fuel etc but how can this be fixed is it the O2 sensor , I also seem to have fairly bad fuel economy i am putting in roughly 90 a week and only drive to work and back which is like 25 mins a day and maybe some driving on the weekends ?

    Cheers

do an error codes check (Howto do this can be found in the HOWTO section)

i'd say you may have hit the nail on the head, something to do with your o2 sensor however it could be a vacume hose leak worn piston rings or valves, it is almost endless.

cars are just big effers of things.

It could well be the oxygen sensors and it could be other things. If the car has done a lot of kms and the oxygen sensors have never been changed, then it would probably be a good idea to change them because it sounds like it's running rich. I really noticed the difference when I changed mine in my previous car.

Cheapest way is to throw in a tin or two of injector cleaner - this costs about $13 a tin for Nulon. If that doesn't improve things then you start spending real money.

Do you have a reusable air filter in there?

Code 76 is caused by your O2 Sensors, if i remember right, you need to cut one of the 4 wires of your O2 sensors, the heater wire. will get back to you on that one regarding the color. but its causing incorrect readings to the ECU and ur running rich.

EDIT: Ok its the pink wire.

Th O2 sensors are in the exhaust pipes, one on each side just before where it bends under the front of the car.

If it's an oil impregnated filter, it can contaminate the MAF sensor, that is the thing in the intake pipe with the big plug hanging off it. In there is a wire running cross the opening, give that a clean with carby cleaner. Be careful not to damage it though.

Look at the plug, check the wiring on the loom side of that, you will find that the colours are different.
