Hey guys,
Not sure if its a common problem with the VR/VS Commodores or just wear and tare, but it appears that the rubber door seals have started to wear out. I can hear air movement at higher speeds.
Is there anywhere which sells the rubber seals reasonably cheap? Or is it going to be expensive?
Cheers, Errol.
I wouldn't hazard a guess at new seal prices but they would be very expensive.
Two fixes I've seen - first is adjust you striker plate to raise the door (presuming its the drivers door) to make up for wear in the hinge......second is to physically bend the top half of the door inwards....done with the window down and very gently.
There is also another seal which usually breaks off just inside of the door and this seals off noise which leaks in thru the door panel....this usually breaks off and drops to the bottom of the door.
If the seals actually show signs of damage then I'd go to a wrecker.
Maybe "Rare Spares" has a price at their site...they do for FJs etc.
Good Luck.

My mate got new seals made up for him at Clark Rubber for a Gemini, not sure how much it cost him but i do know that he had to cut the seals himself to suit the doors.
We got rep back, yaaay!
Ouch, yep thats expensive. Hmm, not sure what to do now... I havnt adjusted the doors although i havnt tried bending them back a little. Will have to have a closer look and see exactly whats casuing it.
Thanks for the replies guys.
