Hi guys.
Got a funny one for yous. My mates VS we cant get into it why? The battery is dead and the central locking wont work because its so flat. The keyhole door on drivers side does not work with the key, it is jammed. We tried getting in the from the boot but couldnt find anything. Does anyone know how to get into the VS is there some sort of emergency way to get in? Let me know. Thanks.
Are you sure it is not deadlocked i had this problem once it was so stupid of me not to notice but the way you tell is look at the drivers side key hole and if its not North to south then it has been deadlocked all you have to do is turn it clockwise it will be a little stiff but should move.
Failing that you could always kick the middle seat open (What we ended up doing) from the boot it shouldn't break the seat just the clip wont work as good.
Good luck with it all.
Do you have a spare key?
The car battery is dead, not the key battery.
As Burniehoon has said, put the key in and turn it, it will be tight but it will turn.
failing that the bonnet can be opened from outside the vehicle, it's just not easy, do a search for broken bonnet cable or the likes.
you could also go all out, remove the starter (So it wont fire when you do this) get a fully charged battery, connect to the chassi with one lead from negative then connect the positive to the big red power wire from the starter (with starter completly unplugged and removed for saftey)
that second one is just a theory, it might not work
if it was me, id be kicking the middle seat down, a new latch at the wrecker will be about $20 as opposed to hours of stuffing around.
...dont want to say to much about it here, but another alternative is to lever out the small window in one of the rear passenger doors. Thats if you have long arms to reach the lock on the inside
lay under the front of the car with wire in hand , reach up and find battery ( positive is closest to the chassis rail , hold wire onto battery , connect it to external battery , hook earth to body and battery , use remote to open doors , and your in.. pretty much the same as the starter motor one , but no spannering involved
Its not what you know or who you know , its how well you can fake it
Sorry
it was just the first thing that came to my head, I didn't think you could really reach up there, although yes i'd looka t that while I was under there if it ever happened to me, the easiest way out is always the first path taken.
there are other options though, i'm sure other things connect direct to the battery and you could load them (quickly) with enough power to backfeed to unlock the door, heck even a six volt dolphin torch battery wired direct to the boot light wires with the boot open might be enough to open the door, i'm going to test that actually.
use a spare battery: open the boot and wire it to the boot light, that will be enough to open with remote
edit: i didnt see what dannyboy posted at the time.

I would stress if you are going to do this (from under the car) that you connect the positive jumper to the dead battery first and connect the gnd from the good battery to the cassis. If you try to connect the gnd to the ground of the battery, and try reaching that positive jumper cable up around the chassis you are asking for trouble. One nick of the jumper cable on any part of the chassis and you will have big sparks, if not worse.
DannyboyDS, youre probably out in your car already, but just make sure, if you havent already, that you disconnect your cars main battery. Otherwise the car battery will pump 12V into a 6V non rechargable battery with a decent current and could cause the torch battery to catch fire or explode. Interested to know if it works. Actually no, it wont. The locking mechanism of the car would need 12V to open the doors - I dont think 6V is going to be enough. And wont provide enough current either. Would be happy if you proved me wrong though.
If you had a small 12V battery, or even a spare car battery, it would probably work.

nah Kopper I never managed to test it (no spare battery) i'm getting a new battery next week so I will test it then, would be interesting to know if it will work, I bet there are hundreds of ways to do it.
