    Default Handbrake removal

    Hi everyone.

    I got a m8 whos VS handbrake lever is broken, we need to take the handbrake out how do you get to this? I know you have to take the centre console out. Step by step guide would be great thanks.

    not too bad of a job, remove centre console by removing 2 screws under the carpeted section inside the centre console, remove gear lever surround (clips off so gently prise it off by taking the ashtray out and start pulling from there) then unplug the cigarette lighter once the surround is removed you will see the other 2 adjustment screws that hold the front of the centre console in place so back them off and the whole thing comes off.

    now jack the front of the car up and put it on stands. remove the nuts on the threaded rod that holds the cable.
    Jump back in the car and you should see the 2 bolts holding the handbrake lever in place under the carpet on the passenger side. You can either remove the seats to lift the carpet or just cut some of the carpet back to get access to the bolts (I done this was much easier) and the whole assembly comes out once those 2 bolts are removed, just need to unclip the yellow wire and install is just a reverse of the removal
