    Default disc rotors

G'day , the vs2 that i have just purchased has had the brake update to vt , but the car has a shuddering when lighly applying the brakes , if you push hard enough on the pedal it almost goes away , no probs just driving along. is it a big job to remove them to get machined ? , i have done a few before but none with ABS so i am a little worried about it , the car stops fine , just the shudder p!@#$s me off , and it would save me $ if i can take them off/replace them myself , thanks.........

removing rotors will not effect the ABS as it is mounted inside the hub.

once the wheel is off it takes about 2 minutes to get the discs off. Just undo the two caliper bolts and it will slide off. When doing to rear make sure you have the handbrake released or you wont be able to slide the rotor off. I have been quoted at $40 to machine front rotors at my local ABS brake shop.

IMO i would replace the standard rotors. Have a look around here and you will find slotted rotors for ~ $140 a pair which is a great price and they will improve brake performance etc.

    Good luck with the shudder

EDIT: remember to put some locktite on those brake caliper bolts when you put them back in.

I do the standard rotors for $90 a pair and slotted for $135.

Machining isn't always successful on floating rotors. (Held on by the wheel).

i don't like machining rotors, less material means less time before brake fade sets in. slotted rotors all the way. stock VT rotors are well known for warping. my old boss went through a couple of sets on his VT before he sold it.
