Ok first up i have a fairly decent leak in my power steering i checked the level this morning and it was all the way at the bottom of the dipstick and you can see where it has been leaking over time. So my question is can this be fixed or will i need to replace the whole unit. Also when i turn it does make some noise, does this mean it's worn out or can a flush fix this.
My second question is should i do an oil flush. I'm not to sure if the car has ever had one or not but i was thinking about doing one this week when i give it a service. People have said that it can cause blockages and do more harm than good is this true? also what is involved with an oil flush? and any specific brands i should use?
hey burnie firstly where abouts is it leaking from this will depend on wether you can fix or hae to replace anything and secondly the noise is most likely you p/s running low on oil top it up and then turn the wheel for a while and see if the level drops because it will have air in the lines that is if it is low in oil,
about flushing your oil not to sure about anything on that all i ever do with a service is old stuff out new stuff in lol
anyway hope that answers your question mate.

Thanks for the reply mate i'm not 100% sure where the leak is coming from um know of any easy ways that would help me find it?
yea mate get a can of degreaser or 2 and give it heaps spray everywere hose and as soon as you stop driving it have a close look at all the seals all the lines everyplace itis connected to powersteering and you should fine the leak

the power steering leak is probably the pump, its common as hell. do yourself a favour and get a seal kit for the pump and new lines from the reservoir to the pump and also check the high pressure return lines for leaks.
getting your car up on a hoist should reveal pretty quick where its leaking - if not, degrease completely, drive for a day or two then put it back on the hoist to track down the leak (most likely going to be the pump).
i wouldnt worry about an oil flush - just change the oil & filter at regular service intervals and it'll be fine.
