My intake manifold gasket might be stuffed but need second opinion. symptoms:
White steam like smoke in mornings lots of it last 2 days its not from cold weather.
Losing coolant pretty quickly and theres no leaks no milky oil, where else could it go?
Also could an intake manifold be cause of vacuum leak code?
any opinions appreciated.
well i dont know but my vs recently got its head gasket done cause mech said thats where the coolant was going. two weeks later it appears its now leaking from around my timing cover. might pay to check around there.. its gonna cost me $400 lol
if its the intake maifold gasket i'll replace it myself so should only cost the price of the gasket and the coolant. but a second opinion would be good anyone know if there is a way to test the intake gasket
Just do it anyway, its probably rooted. Atleast you will see if its been leaking when you take it off.
mate , intake manifold gesket is a definite possibility if you have vacuum problems. Your egnine sucks air through the manifiold , so if the gasket is not sealing properly it will suck air through the gasket as well. If its a bad leak it will really confuse the computer cos it will wonder where the extra air is coming from. ( someone correct me if i'm wrong ) maybe you can wipe a little bit of fluid like engine oil over the gasket where you think its leaking , and if the oil gets sucked in you have got problems
Yeah I think I might do it this weekend, might change my water pump gasket to. spewing I was keen to go for a ride this weekend. oh well maybe if i get it all done saturday i can ride sunday
Thanks for the reply green acc that was wat i was looking for will try oil idea tomorrow. I've tried just about everything else for the vacuum code. can any damage be caused by driving it with the leak
It sounds feisable what youv'e been told, so id go ahead and do it. I wouldnt drive to long with it like that, you are after all sucking coolant through the engine and it may get worse quickly on you
