auto slow change down

Hi all,
I roll into a corner say at 40k's auto in second gear then hit the gas coming out of corner the trans shifts back to first, there is a few seconds delay between when the shift down starts and when first actually engages, during these few seconds the revs come up and when first hits it hits hard almost like droping the clutch in a manual.Its worse when hot but still happens when cold (not as bad). I serviced the box(new filter and oil) found nothin unusual in the pan, but found one of the solinoids wobbly it was the one at the rear of valve body and closest to the centre of car. Is this the first gear soilinoid?.
And if so can I fix it or should I give it to an auto trans shop?.

if ur gonna tinker with the auto, i would at least be getting a manual, which is one thing i dont have so i cant really help you. but i would at least ring a few auto specialists to check if its normal.

mine has that same delay, and my box has been recently rebuilt, i think the real fix would be to be to install a stage 2 shift kit, and corvette servo (2nd gear)

I used to have a vr and it never did it this bad (they all do it a little) but when I say it hit hard its actually scary hard like something is going to break hard.

P.S. reputable auto guy is probably as rare as reputable used car salesman lol, but we can only try.

Don't buy the gregory's manual if you want to know anything about the auto. All it says is take it to a specialist..... not impressed at all when i saw that.
And if you do find a reputable auto guy - stick to him.

Ive got both a VR and a VS. The VR changes aint bad at all and the VS changes just like you describe. Something to do with the shift points controlled by the memcal are diff between the models i think. I agree with ephect, a better servo and a shift kit.

Happens in 5.0`s to, mine is a hard sencond when hot, the auto trans guy said it was a solinoid prob, though I still have not fixed it.
