Smile Which brake pads do u use ?

I've tried 4 differnt brake pads on my VS which has standard brakes.
Tried Bendix Advance when they were new - average ( heard they are better now )
    Tried Ferodo - Crap
    Tried Supastop - Crap
Tried Bendix Ultra Premium from Supa cheap - Excellent, very surprising and no noise, silence at last.

Anyone else tried the ultra premiums, or know a better pad?

I have no problems at all using Ferodo pads, but wouldn't mind trying some QFM's.

Do yourself a a favour and try either QFM Pads or Lucas TRW Pads. Ferodo are ****e, dust up, eat and heat your rotor. QFM, ceramic, only like $40 a set fantastic and made for commodores. Lucas TRD or TRW one of them are same price and have been tested on a track, they did not fade, evne when glowing. Look it up.

As above! Either QFM or Lucas for the win. I really wonder about people that rave about Bendix and whether they've actually tried too many other pads given there's much better ones out there for alot less dollars...

QFM Super X $40 -> Miles better than a Bendix Ultra Premium or GCT
QFM HPX $79 -> Miles better than a Bendix Ultimate or Ferodo DS2000

Or Lucas which are cheap, stand up to the odd track day as said above, and don't wear rotors... Only downside to the Lucas is the dust, which neither of the QFM above have.

ive got bendix ceramic+titanium very firm pedal work very well.
the only question mark is how much wear of the rotor versus pad's..
also worth a look...Molycarbide (as posted buy someone else in the pub i think)

EBC Yellowstuff on front. I know, a bit overboard but my mate gets them real cheap and they stop the car better than 50cc scooter with v8 supercar brakes on it.

Edit: also just thought i might mention that you are best off getting a VT big brake upgrade kit (around $400-$450) then brake pad choice won't be as much of a problem.
Also i wasn't really thinking when i typed that, i have red stuff pads in my commodore the yellow stuff are in my soarer. When the Red run down i wanna get Yellow ones for the commodore too, they seem a hell of a lot better when they get hot than the Red pads on my commodore.

Well said. The new Lucas Pads are no black dust, doesnt mean no dust hehe. THey have made ot for allow wheels. QFM pads (Queensland Friction Material), are very common, but more at brake specialists. Made in Queensland, because they are like a ceamic pad, the dust it a fine brown, that takes ages to come on and wipes off real easy. Not liek that tar that comes out off Ferodos. Bendix are ok, the heavy duties are the way to go, but talk about squealing !

QFM Super X $40 is what i use, cant believe they are still going, and i put them on last October ! I do over 30,000k's a tear, lots of stop start. EBC are good, but expensive, and you have to be carefull of the heat ranges, as they may only start working when warmed up.

Lucas/TRW = Good review on the Lucas, theres heaps just look.

Australian Truck & Auto Parts. -The DTEC is what you are after, low dust etc.

Either brakes are very easy to get.

QFM Performance or just come direct to us if ya want.

Never seen em in supa cheap. lol.
And you won't. Big chains have commercial buying agreements with certain product lines, namely the big brands, regardless of what quality the actual product is. Super Cheap from memory (I haven't had to step in one for while!) only do Bendix and Ferodo, neither of which particularly excite me. I stock Bendix GCT for a good customer of mine who specialises in SAAB, only because QFM don't cover some of the really odd SAAB stuff, so I keep it all GCT for him.

No one can accuse me of being biased because I do stock limited amount of Bendix but I would highly (and personally) recommend alot of other pads before I sold a retail customer a set of Bendix...

Supercheap stock a premium brand of bendix, i dont know if they are good or not. They even stock Bosch Maxistop. Good stopping, but very hard pads, chew the rotors out and squeal. Dont last the longest either strangely enough.

My vote goes for Lucas TRW's over Bendix any day.

I do happen to work for a trade supplier of TRW products, so the price is good, but performance wise they stop far better than Bendix and EBC. The Lucas' are heat rated to 650*deg also, so they will more than handle any track day. In fact we use them in our race car in the NSW state championships and they perform fantastic, no fade issues at all, they just wear quicker than Pagids etc.

Only downside is the dust, as was mentioned above.

If you dont bed them in properly though you will almost certainly experience squealing problems.

In regards to the D-TEC's, i've back-to-backed them to regular TRWs and i found the standards to perform a little better. The D-TEC's in my opinion produced almost the same amount of dust as the standards.

Just my two cents, i'll be trying ferodo's shortly so i'll see how they go.

Which Fredo's are you referring to ? The one's i tried were the Zero's,probably the cheapos, and whenever i got them real hot the whole front end shuddered like crazy. And where's the best retail shop to get TRW ?

I found it funny the amount of places that told me to stay away from Bendix.

I mainly use Ferodo Formula's, if I got a few track days in a short period, will use Ferodo DS2500's. Brake dust doesn't worry me. quick wipe with a rag and it's gone.

Just to add to this, what brake fluids do people use?? I'm currently using Motul RBF600. First time using it, see how it goes on the track this weekend.

As a basic pad the ferozo's do the job quite well, but they need to be bedded in properly first straight after there installed.

Bendix are the ultimate in pads, but if your disxs are a bit worn, then there going to wear out even quicker cause of the hard compound of the bendix pads.

TRW Lucas FBR600 Racing Brake Fluid $59 1L Bottle. Fully Dot 4 and street capatible.

Bendix are the ultimate in pads
If you honestly beleive that then I doubt you've tried to many other pads. Bendix DO NOT CARE about aftermarket. They manufacture a brake pad every 2 mins for OEM applications, yet you can't even buy their SRT track pad for a VE Commodore (like only Australia's best selling car!) yet...

If you think Bendix are the best, try do yourself a favour and save some dollars at the same time and try QFM or TRW. I'm sure if you walk into a supercheap and your options are bendix, powermax, bosch and ferodo, then the Bendix might be the ultimate of that lot, but take a step outside commercially-contracted retail chains and you'll find there's a whole world of brake pads that don't need fancy radio ads and websites to sell product...
