Default engine prep for forced induction

    gudday.

just a small question i hope.

what sort or engine preparations are needed to install a turbo or s/c to it ?? as in engine "toughning" if there is such a phrase, or can a turbo or s/c go straight onto an existing and stock standard v6 ??

    cheers

Well this is one of the most talked about topics around any Slamadoor forum ...

Yes , you can use a stock bottom end , one guy seems to be getting 300KW from a turbo'ed stock'y [ now dep on how hard you drive , the boost you run , this may have been a " for bragging rights Dyno run " , so expect much less for daily driving ] ....

Lots of forced induction options out there , just depends on how much you wish to spend ... Expect to pay $2000 and the sky [ your pockets ] is the limit , no such thing as too much ...

Heheheh , the old saying : The more you want , the more you pay , is the yardstick here ...

    For 200 - 300KW [ V6 ] expect to pay $5000 to $10,000 for comercial bolt on power kits ...

my questions pretty much identicle, except for the RB30, atm i got me a N/A RB wit cold air, extractors, 2.5 inch... im thinkin of droppin a turbo on her.. but im just wondering if going out and getting a turbo engine would b cheaper & easier, or would it b better to simply bolt on a turbo? since im new to turbo's take it easy on me :P

Same answere : Yes you can Turbo / Super Charge stock engines , its done all the time ... It just depends on how much POWER you are going to squeeeeeeeez out of the poor little stock eng .....

Most forced induction engines run lower compression , so you can run higher boost , + stronger parts for the extra heat and stress ...

So if samo / samo , stock engine will not last as long as a purpose built engine ... For the same money , just get the Turbo engine-Trans-diff or trade up to a Turbo VL ....

A fair few Turbo cars out there for around $5000 now ..... [ Used of course ]

i would reccomend going no more then 8PSI on a stocker, if ur using it to race i suggest u not bcos u will b up for an engine rebuild very soon, if u want the noise and little power gain then yea, 8PSi u can still feel the boost any way
