Could be the thermostat jammed or an air lock in the cooling system. If you have not been loosing coolant - I'd check the thermostat

Also you could check to see if the fans are cutting in when they are ment to.

At running temp can you squeeze the top radiator hose?

If the car is under temp stress (getting real hot) the cooling system is under lots of pressure and you can squeez the top hose all that much.

So the car probably is not over heating - so maybe the thermo fan is not comming on when it's ment to.

when we brought the car i think the previous had some over heating trouble because they unhooked the fan wire and tapped into the fuse box so when u turn the key to accesseries it turns the fan on flat out,so its always going but flat out,iv gone and seen a mechanic and they said its ok but the fan is just gonna wear out fast,i been wanting to get it fixed but they say its alright

You got it - if the fan goes all the time - it'll be buggered in no time flat.

The VS if not bleed properly will get air locks and have over heating problems (pockets of air). There is a small bleed screw on top of the thermostat housing and this should be use to get all the air out of the cooling system. Also when bleeding the heater should be turned on to help get all the air out.

So if they had air in the system and having a temp guage crackin a spaz all the time they may have thought having the fan on all the time would fix it.

The bleed screw should be ontop of the thermostat housing (top hose will connect to this)

From memory the scew has a lock nut too - just crack it open to see if any air comes out. Wont be much - but it dosen't take much air to get a spike in the temp gauge. (coolant raises the boiling point by a fair bit so when it hits air it can bump the temp guage up
