Getting a Re-spray, add pearl??
G'day.
About a month or so ago now, my car was parked at a mates overnight, we woke up the next mornin, to find 5 of our cars with spots of paint missin all over them. Must have been brake fluid or paint stripper or something. Pretty much every panel on my car has paint missing, exposing bare metal in some spots.
After about a month of waitin for my insurance company they finally decided to repair the old girl and not write it off, so the good news is for $500 (excess) im getting all my little dints out and a fresh new shiny coat.
Now im just after opinions of you guys if ya got any, quick rundown of my car;
White VR Sedan. Full Debadged. Dark Tints, Reasonably Low. And just recently got a set of 19" Chrome 5 Spokers.
Plans are to get some calais tail lights and chrome grille ready for the new paint, was also thinking about getting the chrome door moulds/surrounds, not sure if they'd suit though??
I was thinking about getting a pearl or something through it, chuck my repairer an extra few hundred to get something different. I havent seen any white metallic paint so i spose thats ruled out. But dunno if a pearl on white would be any good either. Other option would be to get a couple extra clear coats to give it that 'deep glassy' look.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.
Dan.

a pearl over the top of white looks schmick mate, and if your getn a respray in white, it looks flat in the dark but throw some light on it and it comes alive. mine is the same (but factory paint) and it's a real eyecatcher.
metallic white is possible mate but imo not quite as nice as a pearl over white.
if any1 has some decent pics to show it would really explain how good it looks...

Yeah something different that could turn out to be very nice.
I was thinking throwing some gold flakes into the mix when mine goes in for the respray.
Again mines metallic but should still look the goods. Those ebay flakes I've heard some nasty things about so might look else where...
But yeah matey I say go for it!

The newish Honda accord euro's have a white that is metallic. Its like a creamy color, it looks absolutely spot on! If I were to change the colour of one of my cars it would be that for sure.
Or some of the Lexus' are white with a blue-ish pearl through them, they look mint as too

hmm, just looked up a few of those, im not really into the white with a certain colour pearl, i'd rather just keep it white white. White pearl doesnt really look much different in the pics, but then again they are only pics.
What do ya's reckon about the extra couple of clear coats to give it that deep thick glassy lookin' shine?

lol thats more to do with the quality of the clear, you can put as many coats of **** clear on and it will still be ****, use quailty clear and it will give a good shine.

^^^ bingo
Dont skip on paint, you get what you pay for. BTW more clear doesnt mean more 'glassy'
I fully and properly resprayed my jetski in white with a heavy blue pearl. Turns heads everywhere it goes. It was rubbed down with 180, all the little stone chips from the towing repaired, primed, dry rubbed with 320, primed again, wet rubbed with 400 then sprayed basecoat white, then 4 coats of clear, wet rubbed with 2000, then 2 more coats of clear, wet rubbed again with 2000 then buffed. Pretty much the most ultimate finish you can ever get.
I'll try and get some good photos of it over this weekend, cant seem to capture the pearl 100%... In the dark or low light its white witha tiny bit of blue coming threw but under bright light of in the sun its either blue or white. How i wanted it

Being a VR meaning its atleast 14 year olds, just a new coat of plain old no metalic white will make it look sleek. Add some wheels for some bling and you got a nice ride
Dont worry about the pearl

sweet jetski man, yeah i can see the blue pearl comin through on the last two pics, looks pretty sweet actually. How much did it cost ya in the end to get that kinda finish (roughly). Did ya do it all yaself?
Yeah, probly just end up leavin it plain white, the white have gone very dull overtime so a fresh coat may be all it needs.
