Default Symptoms of Dodgy coil pack ?

Can anyone tell me what the symptoms might be of a faulty coil pack on a VS V6 ? Do they just die or can they be on and off ? The primary and secondary resistance are OK , but the engine has a big miss and the odd backfire and 'explosion', like the timing is way out..

The DFI can go slowly or quick. The harmonic balancer could be buggered for the timming to change.

More likely a bad sparkplug lead or plug. Check your codes.
