Default Very loud tapping coming from top end. URGENT please help!!

Ok i have done a search and cant find anything like my ticking being talked about. On the weekend i replaced the inlet manifold gaskets and dropped the oil and new oil filter. a have been driving about 100km since i worked on it and i go out to start it up tonight and it is making a chronic ticking/tapping noise sounding like it is coming from the plenum chamber. And this isnt just some little old engine ticking, it sounds so unhealthy that i dont feel comfortable driving my car until it is fixed, and im taking my GF to the show saturday so i need my car!!, it gets louder and increases frequency as RPM in increased. Is i would have instantly thought it was from the work i did on the weekend but it drove fine for a couple days. Does anyone have any idea what this is. PLEASE HELP!!! ps my car is also reving at about 500rpm on idle now since the ticking started, used to be about 800rpm

sounds liekone of your lifters is blocked from carbon or gasket deposits or has had coolant in it from taking the manifold off, it happens alot when the manifold gaskets are changed
run some engine oil flush thru it and see if the problems goes away, if it doesnt then track down the suspect lifter and replace the pair of them for that cylinder

a piece of carbon could of dislodged from the manifold after you put i back on and blocked a lifter or pushrod gallery.... could of been floating around for a while and eventually jammed itself somewhere

had a closer listen realised it is in the passenger side rocker cover. when i was pulling the rockers off i noticed that one of them can rock even though the bolt is done up tight. its like the rod is too short and not pushing the rocker up enough

could be a dud lifter , but funny it just started after you worked on it. I reckon its a piece of crap stuck in there as above. Hydraulic lidters need oil pressure to work so if one gets blocked it don't lift properly..
