VT brake upgrade onto VS
Needing some cold hard confirmation on the parts i need to do this.
Just bought some parts to do the brake conversion to put VT twin piston brakes on to my VS.
This is what i got:
-Calipers, pads
-VT master cylinder
-VT brake lines
-Hub shims
..and i will be looking for some discs soon
Now.. i was told this would be pretty straight forward, but i then was unsure if i needed the VT booster as well??
My VS has ABS, will this still work?
Please help me, or steer me in the right direction
Thanks

there are a few places around Melbourne that sell kits for this for about $450. I have seen them in just parts Mag. I thought there were a few modified parts involved but someone else will know better.

check out Wagon Wheel VS clubby.. he did the brake upgrade, cost him abt $500 altogether. Looks neat on his car too.
EDIT
cant remember the exact page its on, but he fitted it all himself.

if you can find them and there not to much but some VT hub assembleys, they bolt straight into the vs strut tower makes it easier just to buy vt disc's with out needing shims

You will need and adaptor to fit the vt master to the vs booster i beleive, i think race brakes have them racebrakes.com.au, If its a bit dear then you can modify a vn/r bracket and just do the entire vt booster and master, which may be better anywayz as the vs booster is only 3to1 boost and the vt/x is 4.25to1. http://users.bigpond.net.au/jimbo123/VN/
Its not absolutely nessacary to do the master but you will have a low low pedal.
ABS will be fine, just be carful not to get to much air in the lines(bend them up a bit when you take them out) and dont let the resovoir run dry when you are bleeding the system. did this to my vr if its any help at all Vt booster m/c in Vr V8 with ABS

i got my kit from ebay for $400 shipped
that included 298mm RDA slotted rotors (designed to fit VR hub)
new VZ calipers, front bendix ultimate pads, rear bendix heavy duty pads and rubber brake lines
i run it on the std booster and master cyl and they are great. i got myself a v8 booster/master to fit but i don't really need it
very easy to fit at home

the local parts supplier here in NZ recommended i upgrade to the VY Booster and master cylinder. apparently it's a stepped MC that provides a better pedal feel again over a standard 1" MC. don't know if it's true or not however.
We also have a VY booster and master cylinder upgrade available
It is a straight bolt in replacement and only requires the original brake lines to be flared to suit the later model master cylinder. Any mechanic with an on car flaring tool can do this. Installation is approx. 1.5-2 hours.
This is a far superior set up over the 1 inch master as the later models have a 1 ¼ inch stepped bore or better known as a fast fill master so they work much better and give you a much better pedal feel.

i don't think you will need it...replace it if your one is faulty but pedal feel is fine and brake effectiveness is so much better than stock with just the vz calipers only. mine stops on a dime and its a wagon..but it does have abs and new tyres which helps.
fitting these brakes is the best thing i have done to the vr...i only wish a had a sedan with 5sp manual so it would handle and go a bit better.

VT upwards is a 1 inch with a 1-1/4 stepped bore for the quick fill of the bigger calipers, thats why it gives you back a proper pedal again.

i already bought the VT master, so i figure i might as well install it if its not too much hassle...
so just to clarify... u upgraded calipers, discs and lines only? same, stock, booster and master?
i just remember a few years back that a mate did VT brakes on his VR (stock booster and master) and after only a few days the master shat itself.
