The cooler is for the trans. oil and has no connection to the engine oil system.
If you want to bypass the external oil cooler, the bottom inlet to the radiator cooler is 'in', the top is 'out'. The way the lines from the trans. run is the same way i.e. lower 'in', upper 'out'. I doubt it will make much difference beyond perhaps flushing anything trapped in the radiator cooler back into the trans. if they are connected the wrong way anyway, at least temporarily (until you can get another external cooler).

ok,if i do what ur saying i think the previous owner has had the cooler hooked up back 2 front and thats why the trans oil is brown and cooked, the inlet was on the top of the cooler and the outlet was on the bottom, before the hoses go anywhere, what 1 is the outlet & inlet,i dont wanna hook it up if he has buggered up somewhere,i cant really anyway cause the damn hose is to shirt to make the hoses go to the right spot.

It won't make much difference which way you hook it up , it just helps keep air bubble out of the system by pumping it from bottom up so you dont get a waterfall effect inside the cooler. The fluid will flow either way so don't panic

Less haste. Be more gentle with them and they don't break.

no, no, no, You have allready cost yourself money learning this lesson, now it is learnt. Do you not see that you have given yourself something by tackling this ordeal yourself, information, you now know better and next time you will be able to do it yourself, rather then blow an extra $80 ontop of materials for something you have learned yourself, taught yourself.
Don't feel bad for making a mistake either, once bitten twice shy, I say good work and goodluck.

yea good lesson to learn only once, went to upullit today and took me ages just to find a commodore with its radiator still in it,all i found was 2 that had head ons soit was hard to pull out,i got what i wanted a fitting for top radiator cooling system and a hose, got home and turnt out i didnt need a new fittting, the hose i got had a good thread in it to just screw it back on and fix the cross threaded bit but the other end was a different hydrolic fitting so i cut the steel pipe and the other and just got couple inches of old trans hose and put it on and got two hose clamps and bobs ya uncle it worked, couldnt find any decent ext coolers to pull off so il buy 1 later on.
