Question VT-VZ IRS LS1 Diff will it bolt up to V6 IRS Diff cradle?

G,day Lads, As most Know i am looking @ throwing a Gen 3 into my VS Calais some time in the future! now next week i am getting the cradle body support mounts replaced with some high performance items to handle to extra power, what i need to know is if any ls1 diff from the VT-VZ range will bolt up into my VS V6 cradle? or will i have to replace the entire diff cradle? Also will the V6 rear control amrs still be right if the diff does bolt up? or will these also need replacing? And i know i could not be this lucky but, is there any chance i can just get a professional to pull the guts out of the V6 lsd and replace it with a LS1 lsd centre? thanks everyone!

nah the VT series1 diff will bolt up no hassle, but series2 vt on was different. not sure but i think it's a different yoke, which would mean a driveshaft change
as for the internals transfer, i won't even hazard a guess

    Cheers for the reply mate
I take it the series 1 diff is not for the LS1 engine? Im not 2 worried about the yokes not matching up as the drive shaft would have to be swapped out to suit the gen 3 anyway (i think it has to be cut down to fit) But my main concern is if i can use the V6 cradle with the series 2 LS1 diff i.e if it bolts straight up ect! anyway will keep doing some home work on the subject!

VT series 2 they changed the yoke, so you can get a diff from a vt+ and it will bolt up, but you will need ur yoke transfered to your diff, or it can be cut and welded.

pending the model, ss or super6 some in the VX range had a differnt diff, M80 or M78 bigger internals

Cheers fellas! Yeah i just needed to know if the VT onwards LS1 diff would bolt up 2 my V6 Cradle otherwise i would of had to buy a VS 5Ltr diff & do some modifying to the 5Ltr diff so it would be approved by the engineer when it cam time to go on the road ect! so thanks for the info When i do the Transfer i will be buying a whole car from the damaged vehicle auctions or ebay, seen a VX clubby (on ebay) complete rolling shell with everything needed for conversion for under $5K, would luve 2 bolt the HSV motor under the VS

yea the ls1 will fit, u'll have to get custom headers coz its a tight fit, but it will go

sounds like a plan, if you do it, post up your progress, be awesome to see it it evolve

Well @ the moment i am also considering just throwing a super6 in their and working it, but would love to have an ls1, and that V8 note!! plus it would be unique! But with that said the super6 is ridiculously easier to do (almost plug and play as im running a v6 anyway wich means i can use my current loom) and i would also get away with the current suspension aswell! So dunno yet
